Sorry but that rationale does not work

First of all if we had a coach staying he would have signed some of our best players. Williams has already said he was waiting

Second there are 5 better sides ahead of us on the table

If they all contribute 6, that's a shark load of players.

6 times 6 equals 36

That's assuming there is no one signed from the other four teams of course

The other 5 teams above don't have the threat of expulsion hanging over them, post next season. I imagine they don't have as many players on only 1 year deals, and certainly offer a more secure future at the moment.

Plus the main players rumoured to be leaving are Williams, Burgess & Kurto. Rudan brought them all to the Nix. And none of them are likely to have come to Wellington, if it weren't for him.

Very different story if he takes someone like Krishna to WU. That's 'poaching'. To a lesser extent the same re Dura, who ominously hasn't now ruled out returning to Australia to play another season.

Have to place some trust in the new coach - Vidmar, Talay or whoever it is - undertaking pretty sound recruitment like Rudan managed. If appointed soon, they will certainly have more time than Rudan had, to get it right.

I never said 6.

I would say that if Rudan was to not work anywhere next year, there's a likelihood of some of our players ending up at WU still. If Rudan is at WU, it's likely even more will.

Difference between us and other top 6 teams is they don't have so many important players sitting with no contracts still and they have a license to be in the league beyond next year. This whole FFA debacle has made us ripe to have our best players picked off.

you can blame the FFA until the cows come home for leaving us ripe to be ripped off

But if you leave the house unlocked

It still takes some thief to come in and to rip you off.

Potentially. Another thing we will miss is the video analytics from what I understand that was one of Rudan's specialties.

Hopefully Ufuk will prove himself at this level as well

There was a Video analyst guy last year (Carl Edwards) who had done work with Auckland City and a few other things in Auckland. He went back up there not long after the season started.

Have no idea what this all means, but stay tuned...

"Already the Phoenix have lost their manager Mark Rudan, and there will be more to come out about that messy departure in the coming months. Rudan brought charisma, although he wasn't quite so clean-shaven, quite so saturnine and Mourinho-esque when it wasn't match day.

It's been a hard road for the Aussie and towards the end it was getting harder. When finals football came Rudan lost his faith in talent and surprised many by leaving out Sarpreet Singh with whom his relationship had deteriorated."

To be fair, that article is factually inaccurate on so many different things that it's hard to take anything from it seriously.

I read it and it is just all shallow and all over the place like madwoman's custard. Krishna "not meeting marquee criteria"? Rudan having a fallout with Singh, an 18 year old boy??  Talays young Olyroos losing 3-2 to Uzbekistan meaning he's a bad coach???

Haven't reliable journos stated that Singh was having a few attitude problems?

I know that Anfony Hudson is a conman, but I think he had a point about talented young Kiwi footballers not seeing the point of pushing themselves once they'd reached a certain level.

Interesting he lobs a few hand grenades about Rudan but doesn't write anything to expand on, or substantiate, what he's written. It might all turn out to be true but I take everything he writes with a massive pinch or salt.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

You are right and that is my point too - he just writes in vignettes, but strong claims require strong background / depth in the story rather than putting it all down as a fact.

I haven't read the article and I suspect Singh is not, but you are naive if you don't think there are some wanker 18 year old males out there. Isn't he  a couple of years older then 18 anyway?

Not as crazy as it sounds to be fair. I know he has proven himself as a head coach this year but if he means what he says about family being the driving factor then doing the assistant gig at Sydney for a year wouldn't be so bad. I almost hope this is what happens to be honest
