My thoughts on the latest news:
a) All the best for your recovery, Pav!
b) Whatever the mystery illness is, it hasn't stopped him from playing in Aus until quite recently. So perhaps he's been unwell recently and tests showed he is unwell?
c) Don't really think any sort of mental illness would stop him from playing.
d) Why did the club release a statement about this if they're not going to let the public know what is happening? Conspiracy theorists will say the Club has given him a golden handshake and told him he's not part of the team anymore.
Anyway, I thought Pav had his moments (good and bad), and I've always felt our playing style never really suited him.
This being said, he's never set the world on fire either.
Sorry NZP, I've got to pull you up on point c) there. There are plenty of reasons why mental illness might stop someone playing. Have 10 years of NZ watching John Kirwan wander down the beach in linen pants writing HOPE in the sand with a stick achieved nothing??
However, I agree that I'm not sure the Nix have done the right thing here. That short statement will only lead to speculation, and it doesn't sound to me like the club are trying to "support" or "protect" Pavlovic as much as just bury the whole story. In fact, that statement makes me think that whatever it is they are pretty pissed about it (not even a mention of "the club wishes Mirjan well" or " the club is supporting Mirjan at this time").
On the other hand, most of the speculation will be confined to this forum so maybe that's the best way to keep it quiet.
Regardless, all the best to Mirjan.
