Gombau would be a strange choice to me. Popa has assembled a squad to play his normal defend & counter tactics., whilst Gombau needs players who focus on controlling possession. They probably have the best squad on paper but I don't think he would get the best out of them.

Pretty odd, you'd think he'd have had plenty of opportunities to go if he wanted to before this, for someone to have built the team from scratch to leave a week out from the season seems out of character too.

Thought it was a poor move to leave with a week to go but apparently he had only made the decision in last two day. Now that he is apparently taking a signing and coaching staff with him, then it’s a fully dick move if true.

Gotta feel bad for Ian Crook, taking everyone but him!

Ramon seems to do their recruiting for them so already has a relationship with the club.

That's an interesting one. I'd imagine Gombau would want them to play quite a different brand of football and he is one that focuses on playing a certain style over pragmatism.

They might have a bit of a dip while he gets them playing how he wants.

Adelaide with a full preseason under Gombau won 1 out of their first 9 games, if WSW starts that slowly they have wasted a season with a rather expensive squad.

They should just make controlled environments for flares and smokeys like what they do in MLS, makes it safer for the idiots and lets them have their fun while making it look cool. But no in straya its way to conservative they must ban everything that is not the social norm..

Wouldn't be an A-League season without a fan boycott

Would be so funny. They totally wasted 5m on wages this season because of Popa.

Sounds like they have a German coach lined up, not the same one that they couldn't get over the line last time tho.
