Western Sydney Wanderers will be without Polish playmaker Radoslaw Majewski until at least January and most likely the whole season, after scans confirmed he has ruptured both the ACL and MCL ligaments in his knee.

Medical advice to Majewski is that he can have the injury repaired surgically immediately and face at least nine months of rehabilitation - or wait for up to two months to see if the ligaments start to repair by themselves, something doctors say is only an outside chance at best.

In the unlikely event that happened, Majewski could be back early in the New Year, but will have to have the surgery if there is no obvious progress.

Western Sydney coach Markus Babbel has denied reports his assistant Jean-Paul de Marigny has caused a rift between staff and players at the A-League club.

The Sydney Morning Herald has published reports claiming players are confused and do not respect Babbel, while assistant coach de Marigny runs the team with a firm hand.

On Wednesday morning Babbel took aim at the reports, saying that if players cannot handle a tough coaching style they 'have no f***ing chance in Europe'.

Hello fever friends

WSW fan in Wellington for Christmas visiting the wife's family. Some of you may know who I am just from that clue.

Are there any pubs up along the Kapiti Coast known for showing A-League matches? Either in Porirua or Paraparaumu ideally.

WSW play Adelaide at 9:30pm tonight, so being a Friday, most pubs will be open.

Let me know, please :)

Interim Hyundai A-League coach Jean-Paul de Marigny (JP) provided an update on players who were not at training such as striker Simon Cox, defender Dylan McGowan and midfielder Pirmin Schwegler.

“Simon Cox is on his way back to Sydney at the moment,” explained JP.

“Dylan McGowan arrived six days ago and is currently in quarantine.

“Pirmin (Schwegler) is also coming back and will be returning at the start of July. He is committed to finishing the season with us.”

Wanderers goalkeeper Daniel Lopar has returned to Switzerland and will not complete the remainder of the season with the club. But will return for next season.

Injured players such as Vedran Janjetovic, Radoslaw Majewski and Daniel Wilmering have also been making progress.

Janjetovic is still working through his rehab with no set return date.

Majewski remains in Poland where he is doing his rehab and recently welcomed his first child.

There have been positive signs for young defender Daniel Wilmering who this morning returned to the pitch and took part in solo training which involved running.

Be interesting to see how he goes for a full season, turns out avoiding him and getting Rudan wasn't the dodged bullet we all thought it was last season.

The 56-year-old's contract was terminated on Monday. Sources close to de Marigny suggested issues with direction, recruitment, youth players and relationships with support staff led to the axing just three days before the team was set to begin pre-season training.

Atm only Bossi is linking Talay with the gig. Everyone else has gone for Aloisi, Foxe, Zwaanswijk and sometimes Papas

Overdue. The parachuting in of van Egmond as asst coach looks a sensible move, if a bit ruthless.
