PERTH Glory owner Tony Sage is set to walk out on the club at the end of the season, according to reports in Western Australia.

Perth radio station 6PR tweeted overnight that Sage had apparently told local newspaper The West Australian that he would be quitting the club at the end of this season.

Wow.

Sad news.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

He has since said that the comment was made in the heat of the moment.Reckons he will be around for a while.

By the sounds of it, there isn't a good relationship between him and the fans. He might have taken the comment back, but how long till he says it again.

Several companies associated with Perth Glory owner and businessman Tony Sage have been raided by federal police.

It is understood the Australian Federal Police (AFP) spent several hours in the soccer club's Leederville building as well as at the office of mining company Cape Lambert Resources, which Mr Sage chairs.

We should not be surprised, one of the worst defenders in the league.

Lucky they've got the classy Steve Pantelidis to cover for him.

David Davutovic @davutovic

As I said earlier Van den Brink leaves @PerthGloryFC. Hearing there's a possibility Shane Smeltz might go to China, but nothing concrete

If Smeltz goes back to China, he is just an idiot. He can get top dollar in the A-League, he doesn't need to chase the cash over there.

we all know what happened the last time he went to china.  Good god does the man remember?

Oh how I would love for him to come back here.

You have to wonder what does go through his head.

If it is a case of wanting him off the books, we really should pick up the phone call. Doubt Welnix would pay what he is getting, but they need to realise goal scorers don't come cheap.

We'd probably need to release a player and somehow get him off our books to do it.

We have 2 squad spots available, Smeltz is an international marquee at the Glory. Only issues would be his missus and Welnix's short arms & long pockets.

No need, we have spare spots and we can just make him a marquee to fit under the cap. Only problem is Welnix.

Which comes back to my affore mentioned statement of needing to get a player off the books. Its not the spots, its the cap. They will not go over it.

I've watched every game he has played in this league and yes he has had a couple of good games and scored some goals but he cannot read a game and his passing (anything over 15 metres) is hopeless.

They're afraid of daylight savings, it's the devil's work apparently. So an easy mistake to make.

OK my mates in WA saying Ian Ferguson is the latest coaching casualty.

Sounds like he's a goner.

Three for me, and two for them.

This is interesting.

Perth are not out of the playoff picture yet so Sage obviously feels that a different voice/tactics is needed or that the coach has lost the changing room. Teams that change coaches usually come out firing for 1-2 games. Either way, he has only have made this change if he wants to push into the 6. Why else get someone else in for 6 rounds?

Of more interest is who comes in for the push. The cupboard is not exactly flush.

Just read the article. I thought our form was poor. No goals in 5 hours and 2 points in the last 8 games. Wow that's a drop.

Guess it was not smart releasing all those players...

Coaches dropping like flies. Not statue Herbert though. He'll survive nuclear fallout.

We were right. Ferguson goneskies. Australia U20's coach Alistair Edwards has been named coach in his place.

Also, Bas van der Brink has been left club-less after his India deal fell through.
