So this is pretty major for the league, another club without an owner. APL era has really been a disaster so far.

This surely guarantees that Auckland and Canberra aren't going to happen any time soon, not with two existing clubs like this. $25million is a bat shark insane price for entry to this league.

Sage was in talks with a new ownership group but iirc, he couldn't agree on a price. With the APL now in charge, I think they will be more willing to come to an agreement.

No doubt they will settle on a lower price but surely if it ends up being less than $25 million it destroys the APLs asking price for expansion teams?

You did wonder if expansions were firstly a way to get some readies on hand for the league and anything else second.

Feel sorry for Sage. Seems like he’s been a good owner in many ways and got screwed over a bit by pandemic and refurbs.

No more than us, yet while mid pandemic our owner group went frugal, Sage went out and hired Sturridge

Rumours are there's new owners already lined up.

Surely it’s not so much the state of the club, but of his other businesses?  And I know he’s done some daft things but surely he didn’t have to pay too much for a guy that hardly played?
And he’s been there for a long time right? And he’s much better thought of than the Sports Direct guy was in Newcastle (UK model)?

Feel for the guy because it seemed like the football side was coming right under Zadkovich. The mix was a lot of young locals.

Oh well. That’s the A league.

Squad Update...
Jordan Elsey and Ryan Williams depart by mutual consent - details here:

No coach, No Owners, Players jumping ship.
Good luck Oli Sail. What a terrible decision to go to WA.

Wonder what's going through his head at the minute with this whole Perth sharkshow seemingly just imploding around him. Seriously not a good look for the league either - Glory, Jets, Victory all on the ropes.

Probably something like: "at least I'm not with those podunk losers the Phoenix anymore"

I mean it’s an OE he’s getting paid for and he’s got his missus. I bet it’s not as cold or wet as Welly or most places in NZ at the moment.

But yeah a bit different from Zadkovich and David Williams and the Western revival that was happening at the end of last season…

But it’s a funny game football. He’s got 3 years on paper, a new owner comes in, Danny Hay or another ambitious Aussie coach and things could turn around very quickly…

If you believe Chris Tanner (and many here wouldn't), they are chasing Staj

Exactly I wouldn't get all smug on the Glory's current situation. Plenty of cash floating around mineral rich WA. Rumours that new owners are lined up. It could all turn around pretty quickly.

Maybe. Have to wait and see.

Compare Montgomery and Popovic. You’d think one is clearly the better coach, but last season’s results were quite stark in being the opposite of that.

Thought Zadkovich had been doing well. Will have to see how Stajcic goes.

If he coaches the Glory anything like he coached the Filipinas, we're doomed

So, how has a club with no owner managed to lure a good coach?
