Golec as a squad player? Backup CB.

Bulut is a very talented player but would fail our no cocks policy I fear. Also, sounds like he's looking at Europe again.

Club seems to have absolutely folded under the new management. No ambition, players leaving in droves. Could be another central coast or brisbane.

Golec is off to the Glory if you believe the Aussie press. Bulut has a lot of talent but his attitude seems to be an issue, if he can get over that he will be a very good player.

Going to be a bit of competition in the market for good Aussies with both Newcastle and wsw having to fill so many spots

I would sign Rukavystya in a flash. Always been a fan. OK he hasn't done as well since returning to the A-League, but he is a good player who would do well under Ernie.

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that returning from O/S, being a previous 'next greatest strayan footballer ever' and his signing being hyped that Ruka was on way more at WSW than he delivered.

If he and his agent want to maintain that celery then we wouldn't want him.

LUCA Toni — Italy’s 2006 FIFA World Cup winning striker — has been offered to Adelaide United.

Toni in a Reds shirt could hand Adelaide a massive chance to dust off the small club mentality and finally play with the ‘big boys’ of the A-League — Sydney FC, Melbourne Victory and Melbourne City.

Adelaide chief executive Michael Petrillo confirmed the Toni proposal.

"It’s understood Chelsea’s Didier Drogba, Juventus’ Andrea Pirlo and Greek superstar Georgios Samaras will be available as marquees for the A-League and the US major league soccer clubs at the end of their current seasons."

Pirlo in the A League would be ridiculous. Like Usain Bolt at an intermediate school athletics day.

How about Drogba for the Nix striker position? ;)

Wouldn't be surprised to see Drogba take Janko's position at Sydney

Pirlo to Sydney would make a bit of sense. He and ADP would know each other well and ADP seemed to enjoy his time there, so could recommend it to Pirlo. The other possibility is either Drogba or Pirlo sign with NY City and do a Villa-style guest stint in Melbourne. But most likely it's agents and/or journalists talking out their asses.

Sydney would be foolish to bring in Toni or someone for Janko. In Janko you have someone who is a proven performer at A-League level. I don't know why you would turn around and gamble on someone else. Toni is still scoring goals at a very advanced age but surely there is a huge chance he will just be injured a lot like del Piero was?

Did they chuck in a free mobility scooter with the deal? Smeltz has had fitness problems the last few years. Sydney need to retain Gameiro as plan A methinks.

Sounds like Gameiro needs to be 'managed' so maybe doesn't fit in Arnies plans. Smeltzy's injury issues date back to his Perth stint, where they fired the strength and conditioning coach and didn't replace him. Sydney's fitness guru rebuilt his fitness (hence why it took so long to play initially), so he should be fit and firing next season.

He will be 34 by the time the season starts again. It is certainly getting into the "Risky Territory" but he has shown this year to still be worthy of a place and well ahead of some running around in the League. I guess it is a case of two years, but on a reduced wedge for what he would get on a one year deal
