Yea of course they will .Oceania footballer of the year, over 300 games in Europe and 94 caps for Australia.
He was a fantastic player, the emphasis on was. He never really hit any sort of high during his A-League stint. I wonder how much playing that first season with an injury took out of him, it was like watching a shadow of his former self.

from what i hear over here (sydney) is that Rogic is to be announced as sydney Ausie Marquee on something like a 3 year deal including a transfer fee

Also reports about Victory trying to get him on loan for the rest of the season. Not sure a full time would be best for his development but gotta admire the audacity of TonyP to try and get Rogic to join Sydney.

So how long until Farina gets sacked? His position is untenable now, not getting the results and fans demanding his head.

08 Feb 11:20

Reckon there will be an 11am presser tomorrow.

Rightly or wrongly, Farina has to go. There is no way he can get the fans back on side, it will just keep getting more and more toxic.
08 Feb 20:16

When do we play them next? Hope they keep him at least till then.

Stink. Don't see him lasting that long.

They might get Emerton to take over

Oi Oi Edgecumbe... lets have a clean sheet

Had a laugh reading Sydney FC thread regarding post match discussions. Some of those supporters groups in Sydney & Melbourne bitch and moan too much. They act like their team should be the best team every single year and if it isn't then it is the coach + managements fault.

In salary capped league results, players and teams can't be turned around over night. When you go to a game you support the players and try and relate with the situation at the club and let the media and management deal with coaching and staff issues. Discussion is fine, but to unfurl derogatory banners and tip beer on the coaches is disrespectful and outwardly embarrassing. When the team is going through a rough patch the crowd needs to focus on lifting them with support.

I'm glad that even at the lowest point last year no one in Wellington was carrying on like this.

09 Feb 04:26

i can understand why the cove want Farina gone, hes out dated and lacks coaching ability. But why are they so anti Tony P? I though he been doing fine for them.

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.
09 Feb 04:29

Because he put Frank in there. The players they have got in have been mostly pies.

Statement from Sydney FC on removal of banners and ejection of Cove members last night http://sfcu.com.au/smf202/index.php?topic=21047.msg1735814#msg1735814

Funny to read some of the things they moan about, he tweets about AFL, he congratulates other teams etc.

From the outside he looks to be doing a good job but having to front other peoples decisions must hurt his image in their eyes. Sydney has a horrible history with CEO's, going thru a new one almost every season.

Farina was doomed to start with, the bulk of the fans didn't want him appointed.
09 Feb 07:03

I know I didn't want him but gave him his chance.

He can do one, the banner was fine & singling out our recently retired Capo & his wife (a former SFC employee no less) for being just a couple of the people who held up the Farina Out banner was atrocious. That's why that section of the Cove moved outside. The Security said it came from "upstairs" which Pignata denied but later retracted & blamed a SFC staff member for taking the decision upon themselves to direct the security.

Still why single out those two members AND removing her membership, very odd.

The beer thrower was allegedly tackled & held by another supporter til the security arrived.

Where's Barlow in all of this? As chair of the board hasn't he been the one sacking CEOs on a regular basis?

Kotahitanga. We are one.

10 Feb 10:06

From what I have been told (reliable Cove sauce, tasty) the dissatisfaction fans have with Tony P comes from a belief that he isn't truly passionate about the club and thing he has done/said in the past (on social media and so on) reflects and reinforces this for fans.

We will never fully decide who has won the football.

10 Feb 11:18

Because he tweets about AFL as well as about sydney FC. Sheesh. Pathetic.

And the cove making a big deal of that too.

Basically what 2nd Best said, but if you read their Forum it's linked with a huge sense of entitlement. They think they should be challanging the top teams and have no patience with the board. I think Tony being so open with fans may have worked for us but is largely sneered at their fans when the team is not performing.

A lot of fans would like to see Tony go with Farina.

It actually makes you appreciate what a balanced and well mannered bunch of fans we are really when you look at what's gone down with other clubs recently.

Don't think I said that. In the end, the CEO is accountable for the running of the club. If the running of the club isn't up to standard, which it looks like it isn't, then the CEO is to blame for that.

Reports that Farina will be sacked this morning.

If you are old and wise you were probably young and stupid

Carle & Thompson been punished for not obeying Farina's tactical instructions on the weekend.

Not surprising. In the post-match interview Carle was bitching about being forced to play that deep midfield role. Senior players openly questioning tactics and selections generally spells big trouble for a club.

Carle and Thompson swapping roles did no good at all anyway. Thompson was unbelievably poor from the moment he came on.

This may get awkward with the PFA if they continue with this. Convo from twitter last night (Gatt = Journo, McKain = PFA rep, Schawb = former head of PFA)

 Ray Gatt ‏@Gatty54

A much as I like and respect Nicky Carle and Matty Thompson, Frank Farina is the coach and made a decision he believes is right.

Jonny McKain ‏@JonnyMcKain

@Gatty54 you can not make players "train independently" Gatty. This is wrong

Ray Gatt ‏@Gatty54

@JonnyMcKain hi mate. I know where u r coming from. You know I am a huge advocate of players rights and PFA. But a coach needs to have 1/2

Brendan Schwab ‏@BrendanSchwab

@Gatty54 @JonnyMcKain Clear breach of contract Gatty and nothing to do with authority
10 Feb 21:51

While Brendan Schwab is no longer the big cheese at PFA he still knows the rules so I would trust him on that (inasmuch as Ray Gatt is definitely a well balanced football journo). Clearly this has potential to turn from toxic to lethal for SydFC.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

11 Feb 05:26

Probably about time the PFA kicked up a public fuss about it.

Bru anyone?

You're forgetting Scott Barlow, he is the major concern for fans. Tony P and Farina are merely 'symptoms' with Barlow being the cause.

I can see the allure but not sure he is the right man for the job tbh.
11 Feb 12:53

Poor form of him to declare his interest in the job before the current coach is even sacked.

I think, form a sfc supporters perspective(which I am happily not), it would be weird to see other sfc supporters holding the club to ransom. How much more damage is that gonna do than good?
And amazingly this comes only 2 weeks(?) After they beat their greatest rival 5 zip. And they were a happy bunch of fuckwitts

The reality is they should be doing a lot better.  They're spending a lot of money on that squad and they've recruited a lot of high profile players, and a lot of overseas players.  Something just isn't right there - partly it's coaching (they're the one team this year that's completely stood off us in midfield and it only clicks when one of their star players turns it on) partly recruitment (too many players signed on reputation I'd say).  I can understand why the fans are unhappy, we're spending just the salary cap, we're always going to struggle to attract players yet they're behind us?  Pretty embarrassing for them

Their squad is so horribly unbalanced, most of the cap is being spent on a handful of name players and the rest of the squad are their former NYL kids. If these highly paid players were performing, it wouldn't be an issue but they are not and Sydney are suffering. Bojic is a great example, he was one of their higher profile off season recruits and he has been horrible.

Sydney is in a real mess, on and off the park. I can see why the fans want change but the common theme in all Sydney's problems seems to be Barlow and he isn't going anywhere. I feel for Tony p, being stuck in the middle.
