Tony P sent out a club members email today and sounds like he made the farina thing worse, in the eyes of the fans.

The Cove: worst fans in the A-league Y/N?

No, From what I've learned from fans of teams visiting here, Wanderers fans are the worst. Whilst looking good on TV and making lots of noise, it's what they get up to after the game that earns them the title as worst. I've been told, they're just like the old NSL days. And anyone wearing colours that don't match theirs is in for trouble.

Well any good PR work our guys might've done over the last couple of years has been undone by one stupid young prick.

Think the club and the A-League need to make a statement saying this attack had nothing to do with football, it was a criminal act by a criminal. It's a society problem, not a football problem, and should be treated as such. Unfortunately, there is no chance of this happening in the media.

So how long will Tiago get banned for?

11 Nov 21:13

They said until the end of the season? How long did Vukovich get?

15 months, reduced to 9 months on appeal.
11 Nov 22:10

Slightly different though? From memory Vukovich slapped the regs hand, while Tiago tried to hold it back.

11 Nov 22:38

Vukovic way worse

11 Nov 22:39

Yeah both bad. Think Vukovich's is worse.

11 Nov 23:36

I feel like ending a guys season over that is harsh. Especially when double footed tackles that could end a guys career often only get a few weeks suspension.

So he gets a season long ban for touching the ref? Am I the only one here who thinks this is a tad extreme? To be fair I didn't see the incident.

12 Nov 01:35

It is extreme but everyone knows you can't touch the ref.........unless they are up for it

12 Nov 01:43

It wasn't 'touching the ref'. It was grabbing the refs arm in an attempt to stop him from showing the red card. Nobody would be facing the tribunal if they accidentally ran into the ref, even though that would result in a lot more 'touching'.

Wish Lia grabbed the ref

12 Nov 02:44

I would be surprised if he is not given the season off. This is not a 1 or 2 weeks affair. There is precedent across the world for incidents like this. Ask Dakota Lucas for example.

What did he do?

12 Nov 03:27

Agree totally JV. I hope he is given a long holiday. I think it is bad enough players surrounding the ref and getting in his face. The minute they allow a ref to be grabbed it will be a disaster

Just a two week ban at this stage, although thats just for the elbow on Archie according to Ard Righ. Grabbing the ref due to be judged next week.

Taking into account video reference and the referee's match report, Calvano was charged with unsporting conduct towards the match official by making contact with him as he was about to issue a red card.

So that is only a minimum of 3 match ban that he faces. He is gonna get off rather lightly isn't he?

28 Nov 02:38

People on twitter saying Tiago got 8 weeks. Looking for confirmation.

The Football Federation Australia (FFA) Disciplinary Committee (DC) - consisting of John Marshall SC (Chair), Anthony Lo Surdo SC and Robert Wheatley - convened to consider the following incident from Round 5 of the Hyundai A-League: 1.  The incident involving Tiago Calvano of Sydney FC (Player) in or around the 25th minute of Sydney FC’s game against Melbourne Victor on Saturday evening.  The DC considered the incident following citation by FFA in accordance with the Hyundai A-League Disciplinary Regulations (Regulations).  Pursuant to clause 9.40 of the Regulations, the DC has determined that the offence of "Unsporting conduct towards a match official" had been committed by the Player and has imposed a sanction of eight (8) matches.  The DC also found that an additional conditional sanction of four (4) matches should be imposed pursuant articles 28.2(d) and/or 28.2(n) of the FFA Statutes. This additional conditional sanction will be triggered if the Player receives a direct Red Card for any offence during the remainder of the current Hyundai A-League 2013/2014 season.

So basically, if he does anything dumb at the back and gets tossed, he gets 5 games out. At least they know but they can't complain that the sentence is not in their favour

Reckon 8 matches for Tiago was about right. No where near the same as Vukovic.

Saw a good comment on twitter that changed my perspective, said that "just because the FFA stuffed up the Vukovic suspension doesn't mean they should repeat that mistake." Which is very true.
