Whips took it 2-1 in the end at his home ground in a grrrivals match in Kiwi Champ!

I am going to promote some of my up and coming young players into the squad to get experience as my reserve team is bulging at the seams.

I'm relegated that I will be.... well relegated from the championship this season.

Had me worried for a bit there, good lineup you picked and it looked like your solid keeper was going to keep me out for a while.

Still in third, which is kinda crazy, but even though Ill fall back down to earth, the more points I gain now means the further away I'll be from relegation playoffs.

Yeah I was surprised I kept up for that long!  In Kiwi league I ran with that formation and pretty much same lineup with slightly - very attacking as default.  After a serious thumping in game 1 of Championship I went to an unfamiliar 442 and slightly defensive and ended up getting donked 13-0 (got early red card).

So I went back to slightly attacking and default setup (except I moved OM into CM).

My keeper has probably been my best player since I started playing this game.  I'm trying to replace him via Youth Development but haven't pulled anyone decent so far :(.

Good game though!

I've got a 4 star potential 18 year old keeper if you are interested?

Got link?  I'm pretty stingy on paying for players and my recent YD pulls have been OK so am happy to wait it out haha.

2-2 draw, was 2-1 up until the 80th minute then gave away a penalty and got a defender red carded

They've been sent to the Sky Valley salt mines for "correctional" training...

In happier news, the first team is still unbeaten and 3rd in the Championship. Yet to play the big boys though.

And it finishes 2 - 1 to the Trains! RESULT!

And Whips couldn't even sell out the ground for this MASSIVE game. Shoddy back office promotion I say.

2-1 win despite having my starting DR go off injured for 8 games, and then my replacement also get injured! I had an OMC playing DR and he somehow survived with a 5.0 rating.

Still in the top 4, what a great season so far.

Post when you're winning... You only post when you're winning...

Somewhat guttingly the Trains only managed a 1 - 1 draw against Onehunga Town, despite them being reduced to 10 men early for a straight red tackle from behind by the last defender..

Maybe my luck is turning. This game looked like so many others this season. I had 20 shots he had a shit team but his keeper who was only 3 star couldn't be beaten.this is where they have 1 or two shots and score. So when they got a pen in the 85th I thought fuck but tey missed and I got a last minute winner

Sigh, the Trains are killing me. After an awesome run, and dangling the prospect of climbing out of the relegation playoff zone, Papakura won 0 - 1 away at Napier City Rebels, and the Trains lost 4 - 1 to lowly Gore. C!!!

And then followed that up at home to Napier City Rebels, 0 - 0 after 88 mins, then concede and lose 0 - 1.

Grrrrrrrr.

Opportunity lost!

Peow FC vs Nix in League 1 GP 11on friday - this match will effectively decide who gains auto promo I think. Will Peow bounce back up or will the nix finally move out of the Kiwi leagues?

Another successful season for the Whips, going to finish anywhere from 6th to 9th to stay up for another season, had an outside chance at the top four and a playoff game which would have been crazy but was a bit low on funds so sold all my old players as soon as I had a top 10 position wrapped up.

Should have enough funds after the season update to go and get myself 1/2 players to keep the squad in a similar position getting ready for the next campaign.

26 Dec 03:29

Onehunga relegated from Championship as expected.  Don't think I won a game all season.  TBH I didn't want/expect to get promoted.  My squad is too big and am trying to cut it down, including letting some decent players go who are still at an OK age.

Bank is -23mil in the red.

I have chosen to go down the Youth Development route.  44 Days until Youth Dev level 10.  I'm not sure if I'm going to pull enough good players to offset the maintenance costs.  Training is at level 8 too.  I am 5 seasons in, about to begin season 6.

Although the positives have been I've managed to pull about 5-6 4.5/5.0 star potential youth players (Yth 20, Dev 15 scouts).  And I only have 2 players in the 30's in my entire squad.  Will be promoting a couple of players from the reserve/youth team up even though they probably aren't ready, but keen to give them the routine and get rid of a couple of 3 star players approaching their 30's with growth about to decline.

Do you guys re-scout your players as they progress?  I scouted a 16 y/o player when I first got him from Yth Dev, said was going to be a 3.5* pot so I thought OK, I'll keep him.  Now I've used the same scout a couple of seasons later and he reckons the player could be a 4.5* pot.  I've gotten rid of lots of what I thought as 'dud' youth players.  Hopefully there  weren't any good ones discarded!

How did you get a higher attendance than your stadium capacity? Seems like there's some serious health and safety concerns at Homebush Road

Win first up for Sky Valley, but it wasn't comfortable. Despite having 63% possession (with a long ball approach!) and 20 shots to the opponent's 5, we still only won 3-2.

yeah they made the change a few seasons back.

It was something about spreading talent more evenly across divisions iirc. they explained it and it all made perfect sense at the time. Have a look back on the announcements if you're bored.
