We're going to win the league!

Haha but seriously, great game. A more hearty performance!

And it was nice to see Kwasnik performing too!

Yeah! What a win for the Phoenix! Weve got Newcastle next week who arent  doing too well this season so lets hope this momentum continues and the consecutive victories follow!

Newcastle were hammered by injuries last night. We have a definite chance to beat them and get some momentum going.

Lets get this straight, speaking on behalf of myself, I never stopped supporting. I criticised, but that doesn't mean I wasn't on the 'bandwagon'.

I still don't get Herbert's tactical subs, and this week lets face it we all saw a different team. But, I will eat humble pie when you eat yours with Sigmund inprinted onto it Agent.

Well, I was far from the most critical (come on Wolfben, be a man) but it was nice to see Ricki make some sensible and timely substitutions this week. Also, more than just determination, it was fantastic to see the way we controlled that 2nd half with good postive football across the park. We hardly gave Sydney a sniff, and they are a very, very capable side.

We are a very very talented side with depth. And we like to beat Sydney like the dogs that they are! 3 memorable wins and counting, touch wood!

Questions: Kwasnik- much better than Hearfield in composure and distribution. Experience showing through.

though I guess it is easy when the whole team is playing well to do the same.

Amazing win. I'm totally stoked. Can't believe that was the side to do it... but whatever works!

It was great to see us win most of the ball in the air this week. Brown had a stunning match... and Dodd and Sigmund made a surprisingly good pairing at the back.

Great result from the lads to kick start the season. If we can get a few wins on the trot then maybe it won't be too late after all.

As for those who heavily criticised the team, i think the performances of the team before today we deserving of criticism. And besides fans are entitled to critique the side just as much as they praise them and today they deserved all the praise they can get.

Three for me, and two for them.

Well done lads!

Started from the back with Dodd and Siggy both outstanding(nice headache for Ricki when Dura and McKain come back!). Muscat looked just about good enough(which is a hell of a lot more than Mulligan has shown) and Locky had a great game.
I was swearing at Brown and his hesitation on the ball until THAT goal which cancelled out everything else he did and should give him the confidence to push on and play to his potential!

Johnson worked hard as always, Gao/Smeltz = class, didn't notice kwasnik till the 2nd half but he showed some nice touches at the end. Still think Covs is past it altho he won some headers, just don't see the point in persevering with a 36 year old workhorse when you have some exciting fresh young fellas in the squad..........

Stoked to beat the BLING and get our season back on track, cmon the NIX!!!!!!!!!!

Uh find where I have criticised Siggy. I certainly don't have any pie to eat.

I don't think he is a RB and it shows but he certainly is a hell of a CB and its no surprise he plays his best football in that position.

I read someone else state that Kwasnik ain't no striker but he can play well on the wing.

Would you like your pie nuked or cold....?

Durante and McKain should not get back into the side, nor should Moss. And Daniel must be seating it now that Gao has stepped up. That might get them all thinking about what they should be doing on the pitch. And Muscat should retain his spot over Mulligan.
Tim Brown? The natural captain.
Nix, Leyton Orient and Alloa Athletic supporting schmuck.

Can't wait to see all my class-mates at school who said the Phoenix were crap and that they didn't support them cause they were losing. I'll be giving them as much sh*t as possible in two weeks. Too bad I can't see them tommorrow.

Any chance of another article hmmm maybe 'I wish the Phoenix would sell out an A-league grand final at home'?

Riki can't change the winning formula now. If players who were out want back in then they must fight for it. Top effort boys.

ive got a song that wont take long, Adelaide are rubbish.. the second verse is same as the first.. ADELAIDE ARE RUBBISH

Agreed about Muscat and Brown. Not Moss though. We have four CB's who are all decent Dodd would be first to get dropped out of them and then McKain.

Did anyone else think that Gao reminds you a lot of Felipe. He does for me.

Great result for long suffering fans..more effort thru the middle and opportunities were put away.  Without Daniel and his tricks something actually got going thru the middle and out wide..he needs a link so if we dont have that then what worked today can work again...and good on Terry for the rev up...I shall look out for more swallows in the coming weeks...

i think his defense outweighs his poor distribution at times - he's looks so much better at CB than DM

Brown was superb, as was Sigmund and Dodd at the back. I liked muscat at RB and think he should stay there, Lochhead looks to be hitting a bit of form too. Smeltz all class as usual, Gao had a great first half but faded a bit in the 2nd. I'm still not convinced with Johnson and Christie was good value when he came on late.

I thought we played with guts and determination that has been missing so far this season, especially considering arguably 4 of our biggest names were out (moss, daniel, durante, mckain)...should make selections next week interesting but competition brings out the best in players IMO.

That was an absolutely perfect substitution.  Gao hit the wall and Plodder came on with new legs and some heart.  Credit where it's due to Ricki.

Thank GOD for that.
Great game finally a bit of passion. Kwasnik played well some very good first touches. Smeltz looked very demotivated at the start but kicked into gear after our first goal. Dodd, not one mingan touch I can recall, great game. Siggy, very secure, rock solid. Coveny, well done should start next week. Paston, WOW great keeping, first goal he was a bit out of position but after that he did great.
All up Good Job 'nix hopefully that silences the non-believers.

As for Ricky, well done, good recovery BUT DO NOT CHANGE A WINNING TEAM!

Brilliant game, just got home after shirts off.....

Most impressed by Muscat, thought he played very well and Kwasnik too.  Smeltz of course, solid and is a better player with Covs alongside him.  Covs played very well, repaying us after spouting his mouth a little....

Tim Brown a top match and superb he scored the winner.  Siggy was brilliant at CB and I thought Dodd had a game reminiscent of his form last year now he's slotted into CB.

Good to see Gao running at the Sydney defence.....

Oh what a difference a week makes.....always had faith and knew we'd come right at some stage but after going 1-0 down I wasn't sure it would be this week.....but then we played our best 20 minutes this season leading up to HT and it was game on!!!!

About to watch the game again on recording - and gonna enjoy every fookin minute of it!!!

NICE ONE LADS!!!!!

Someone on the forum said it wasn't all that bad and that all the team had to do was to fix up the midfield and it would come right. Oh yes that would've been me. Mind you it took thirty minutes and going a goal behind. But with Gao running the ball at the defenders, things started to click. The confidence came back and, in the last 10 of the first half, and the second half, it showed that the team does have the talent to give the playoffs a shake. Well done. Mind you I was wrong on Kwasnik. He had a top game, in the second half, and has a lot of skills. Playing him out wider, he was much better.
Siggy was immense in the heart of the defence, and Ricki has a huge choice to make when McCain and Durante return. Johnson and Brown grew in stature as the game went on, and Patson made up for the first goal, where he was caught off his line, with a couple of fine saves, and cut out a lot of dangerous crosses with his height, that Moss would have struggled with.

Just got back, what a great result!

2nd half we turned it up big time compared to our last few outings. That'll do the boys a lot of good, get 'em confident and get a bit of belief back in the squad.

Great game, great crowd, great to get the shirts off again!

COME ON PHOENIX!
