Alright. The official word is this.

At this stage thje Wellington Phonix have 13 home games this season -the regional round game (December 14th) is NOT the Phoenix's home game it is an 'FFA home game'. ONE of those 13 home gameswill be played outside Wellington, almost certainly in Auckland - primarily due to the unavailability of AMI in Christchurch.

There WILL be 12 home games at Westpac stadium. In addition to this other NZ cities are welcome to bid for regional round games so the Phoenix are encouraging other NZ Centres to bid for the right to host the December 14th game but this could go to an Australian centre.

The Phoenix are inlooking at optionsto play Pre-Season matches in Dunedin and Tauranga which is where that mis-informationcame from.

Here endeth the lesson.

Well, fair enough, I can live with that. (Not that I've ever liked our home games going elsewhere, but it was the increase every season that was the most annoying bit). I alsoaccept the point about the previous success in Chch which is valid.
This will be a real test for Akl though. Let's see how many bums they get on seats.

If my bum needs 2 seats does that count double? (joke, I've actually lost weight since I moved to Auckland)
Love the thought of a Nix game in Auckland. Hopefully a few of you lads will brave the trip up. Any word on venue? Also keen on Tauranga or Hamiltron pre-season game. Both nice and close.Toffeeman2011-06-03 10:17:50

Sat 19 Nov Nix vs Cakes - Venue TBC (this will likely be in Akld according to News)

Wed 14 Dec Nix vs Roar - Regional TBC (NZ centres encouraged to bid but could also be in Oz)

Angst levels dropping...

This game is neither home nor away. As News mentioned the team order is random (News used a fancier word but I can't spell it). Hence only one home game is actually being "taken out of Wellington". Probably to Auckland to test a permanent venue for next season Toffeeman2011-06-03 10:22:52

Dunedin should bid for the game. Forsyth Barr Stadium will be brand new following the RWC, and it looks like an ideal venue for A-League football.

Another plus is that ChCh peeps could travel down for it so they won't miss out entirely.

So is anyone onto this? Who is the Terry Serepisos of Dunedin?

I've just booked annual leave to make every home game. Also considering away to Adelaide (first time). What's New Year like there?

Nostalgia isnt what it used to be...........

Am I the only one around whose blood curdles at the thought of Auckland getting their dirty mitts on the Phoenix, if only for one game? At the meagre suggestion of Auckland getting a game my mind is cast back to the Knights and Kingz playing in front of empty stadiums.

Or am I just a big ol' stick in the mud who needs to get over it?

You are the only one.

We all really like the idea that it is going to Akld.   Much better than ChCh.

I'm already upset about...

1) No resolution to the Serepisos saga
2) Rojas left
3) We've only signed 2 players who are nothing to get too excited about
4) The season is AGES away
5) The new strip isn't out yet
6) The season tickets aren't on sale yet
7) Too many Sunday games at home

I liked Adelaide....However I suggest you stay away from the river.  Also, not sure how awesome it'll be at New Years but Melbs is a 1 hr plane ride away?

End of an era.  Vinnie - It's over.

Isn't the confirmation about the home-game-away and the regional games only a week away? Or am I making that up, as I am often inclined to do? Can't wait to find out the details.

dunners has to eb favoured to take the game, should get a decent crowd, at least they'd get the NZ footy fans...what affiliation doe Carins have with Brisbane??? I'd have thought the NQL boys would still be a little bitter about the A-Leagu to go and support Brisbane.

Would be good then, have all the NQF supporters turn up in yellow and black, and support the Phoenix.

"Dunedin also enjoy long walks on the beach at sunset

Cairns also enjoy supping fine red wine whilst watching foreign films"

I like the idea of foreign films and walks on the beach at Dunners would be to see the locals bashing some seals surely?

Another point in Dunedin's favour - plenty of footballers like to go clubbing after matches...
