Tickets arrived safely this morning. I was expecting a shambles since I moved a couple weeks ago, so a pleasant surprise.

This time of the year is just like Christmas only better, despite knowing what I'm going to get its still better than a packet of raisins and a mandarin stuffed down a sock at the end of my bed.

Well got our tickets yesterday, BUT I have to contact membership line anyway as we've been put 2 aisles away from where the rest of our group are...Not sure how Aisle 22 Row P is "As close as possible to Aisle 20 Row C Seat 49" as I wrote in the seat information.

I know my membership entitles me to a discount on additional match tickets, but does that include a discount if I bought a Nix Six ticket?

Keep seeing A-League membership numbers being updated and we seem to be stuck between 1k-2k.

What the hell is going on? I'm not from Welly but is there any promotion or excitement circuling around the city right now? We seemed to miss a trick with the Sarpong signing, bugger all build up and excitement surrounding our new foreign striker. I'm hearing nothing. We're less than 6 weeks out from season start.

Where do you see the numbers for current sales?

I thought last year we had a high one at only 4000ish so surely they can expect to sell the most in the last month.

Thanks.  Ouch that looks bad next to the rest.  We made the finals last year, surely that's worthy of a spike in sales.

We're tracking higher than we have in the past. Club not panicking as historically the large majority of sign-ups have occurred in the few weeks leading up to the start of the season.

Is there much going on in Wellington though in terms of promotion?

Or has the push not started yet?

Haven't really seen anything in the way of advertising at all.  I could just be ignorant to it having already got my pass though.

Billboards have just started to go up around the city. Saw one on Vivian St on Tuesday. Makes me think the Phoenix are getting ready to start the big push.

There have also been ads on the back of buses for yonks

At the members night they pointed out that NZers are bad across the board at buying memberships/season passes. Warriors are easily the lowest in the NRL (in season passes) despite having one of the better fan bases. And despite us being a 'rugby nation', and the Canes having a great season, the Nix are still outselling them (in season passes).  At least I think that's what they said. Aussies have a culture historically (may be changing though) of buying memberships particularly for league clubs etc. so that they have access to the clubrooms/pokies.

Yeah and I think these are really good. They have the same headline message as the static billboards, but also offer a bit more detail re. value of a season ticket etc. as people will often be exposed to them for longer (sitting at the lights etc,.)

They have to present the new kit first before the season promotion is taking off.

That and bus stops, as you have to sit there for a while.

Still it cant be easy weighing up advertising cost vs sales from those costs.

If you spend a couple hundred grand on advertising (note: I have no f**king idea how much advertising costs) then you wont be making many $.

Worth noting that you might not make it back in ticket sales but you could make it up and more in sponsorship revenue for marketing to a larger live croud

Also, the return from someone becoming a member is (hopefully) unlikely to be fully realised in just the first year. Hopefully they stay a member for years to come as well.

I wonder if Wellington's shark weather is another factor in our relatively low membership rates comparative to other A League clubs. I think some people might not buy a season ticket if they think they might not got to a few games because of the weather. You buy a season ticket in Perth you you know you're not going to be attending a match in a wet southerly gale.
