but then why sign italiano before seeing him in person - if smith is better, he's better and that's cool, but would be very odd way of arriving at this.

cause Moss had left and we needed at least 1 keeper

It's not like Italiano was going anywhere, or would have turned down the Nix had he been made to wait (where else is he going to get an A-League gig). Like I say, fair play to the kid if he has leapfrogged the other two on form - but very odd to happen like this.

I think you guys are reading far too much into this comment. I think the point he is trying to make is that, in his eyes, all players are starting from the same point and that the team will be selected on form and not reputation. Makes sense to me.

Maybe, but to say it about a guy who's not even signed (so far as we know, wouldn't put it past them) and to play that guy in one of two final warmup friendlies is a pretty heavy suggestion.

Any other comments about who played well / not well from anyone who was there? or was it too one sided to be of any value?

In the first half particularly we looked high and wide early trying to release Parkhouse and Krishna. Not sure if it's going to be how we play or if it was to exploit the TWs back 3 though.

Kaludjerovic was solid, did everything expected of him, both wingers had lots of opportunities and did well, but also both wasteful at times.

Finkler was good, lots went through him and he embarrassed some TW defenders
in the 2nd half with some great skill. Paracki was motm for sure, quality on the ball and great at winning it back. Rufer drifted in and out of the game. He was ok but nothing special. Ridenton replaced him at halftime and scored a stunner and was far more involved. If that was an audition for the two of them, Ridenton won.

Backline didn't have a lot to do. Abbas and Mullen were solid, Galloway tried to do too much at times but also got forward well. Rossi had one bad touch I remember but got himself out of it.

Smith didn't have a lot to do in goal and the pen he gave away was before I got there.

Vidosic was good as well. Came inside a lot more than Parkhouse and was very effective. TWs falling to pieces seemed to be timed with our mass substitution, so maybe an indication of their preseason fitness. Overall an encouraging performance but hard to know what we can read into it.

Hailermariam (sp?) Was probably TWs best.

Diame? think you are meaning Sekou Diane, young guy from Lower Hutt City, scored 7 goals in the Central League for them this season

I assume the game will be free this time, since it's a ML park?

Will we still be able to pick up our members packs at the Community Day if we haven't got our season tickets by Saturday? I'm assuming not and that they will just be available at the first two home games.

Good question. Last year we were able to pick them up at the launch at midland park.

That one came in hot, they must have been disappointed with TW's showing last time to get a decent hitout so they're opting for ACFC. Hopefully a decent hitout for the Nix and for ACFC aiming for CWC

Wow didn't see that one coming! I must admit I wasn't thrilled to go watch the game after last week, but now I am rather intrigued and hope to be able to find the time!

Be interesting which game has WeeNix and which one Phoenix or do they keep us guessing and play two different mixed sides.

Perspective !!

Nix - week 10 of preseason - Players who are paid to train/ go to gym etc full time - most days (as their job)

TW - week 2 of preseason - Most players hold down full time jobs/ attend University etc and then turn up to training's in the evenings!!

Not quite the even playing field.  You would expect a difference!!!

Nix vs TeeDubs

Italiano

Lowry Durante Fox Doyle

Rufer McGlinchey

Parkhouse Singh Rogerson

Watson

Nix vs ACFC

Smith

Galloway Mullen Rossi Abbas

Riddenton Paracki

Krishna Finkler Vidosic

Kaluderovic

I would think that side that started vs ACFC will be our starting XI vs Adelaide.

Personally thought we were outplayed today by ACFC. We couldn't hold the ball for long periods of time and gave the ball up far to cheaply. Hopefully we can improve mentally in the next 7 days. Looks like keegan smith will be starting the season

which could suggest they are making selections on what they see day to day rather than past history which could shake things up. After seeing them that would be a good thing!

I‘m no fan of Scott Galloway. Paracki I like. Two goals from corners, impressive! But they created not many chances.

Our defense looked horrible at times. Overall this was not looking very convincing a week before the season opener.

Only point I would note is that Rogerson played well in the first game, but appears to have some anger/ego issues to conquer.

Ridenton was taking the corners - at least the second one that we scored from.

I really rate him; great to see him putting in good dead balls - we haven't seen that part of his game before in the A-League.

Unfortunately backup keeper Smith did not impress. He made some poor decisions - e.g. should have parried the shot out for a corner if he couldn't hold it, but instead parried it into the path of their striker.

Also some of his clearances and or passes went astray.

He could come right in time though, and I can't say it's clear who our first-choice keeper should be.

Would have liked to have seen more of Oli Sail, who only got about 15 minutes at the end of the Team Welly game.

Great to see the refugee involvement - hopefully this will mean a more diverse crowd in the stands this season.

I am hoping it was a classic poor dress rehearsal syndrome because we looked far from impressive. After watching the last two games I have to say that Marco Rossi is worrying me. He looks slow. His first touch has been poor and he is getting caught in possession far too much. Let's hope he is the type that only really turns it on in real games

He was anonymous today. I didn't see the whole game but the standouts for me were Ridenton and Abbas.
