Very good signing. Could be another Uffie masterstroke in the making guys.

Without knowing too much about him beforehand, and after doing a bit of reading up on him, he's got a lot of football behind him for a 22 year old, has been brought up in a football environment and seems to have an engine about him, as well as a bit of fire in the belly.

Now to lock in some quality visa signings and we'll have another very capable squad at our disposal.

League 2, or League 1 at a push.

Your having a laugh! He is a much better player than that. Whilst I agree he might not be premier league level yet, I have no doubt he could cut it in the Chanpionship.

The Garbett rumour to the premier league, not that one is a push!

Sign Joe Bell to a 3 year deal. And get back Stensness. Our midfield would be awesome.
As a Phoenix fan, this would be incredible. As a New Zealand fan, both of those guys are too good and need to be playing in Europe weekly.

Bell has Premier League links according to a Norwegian football journalist on Twitter, so it's a bit of a pipe dream to bring him home. Stensness needs a step up too, he was phenomenal last season which I really didn't see coming and the Olympics are corroborating that
As much as I rate Bell, he's a long way off being a Premier League signing. Only played 10 games for Viking last season. He'd be more likely to go to a League 2 or even League 1 club at a push.

from what I saw today I'd say a L1 team with ambitions of Championship footie or a struggling team in the Champ avoiding the drop.

A bit off topic but Singh just played for his new team Jahn Regensburg, they won 3 - 0 and the German fans are raving about Singh and how good he is. A shame he didn't play at the Olympics but has payed off for him

Re: Pennington's "history" . I found this article (https://www.google.it/amp/s/amp.calciomercato.com/news/cagliari-pennington-squalificato-6-mesi-ma-il-referto-e-gonfiato-25717).
First of all, the incident happened in 2017, and secondly it appears there were significant discrepancies between the referee's report and the images. According to the ref, Nicholas man handled him and showed him hard, and proceeded to take the red card out of his hands and threw it onto the ground. He was also barely restrained by his teammates and was reluctant to leave the field.
From what I can see (and the images aren't super clear), he gers close to the ref but appears to be pretty composed overall. The ref does bend over to pick up a card so it's likely he did snatch it.
Still it seems way over the top to cop a 6 month ban for what appears to be a slightly over the top protest (as team captain).

Anyway, I'm sure Uffie would have done his due diligence and is happy with him and his character

It's been a lot of lean years since Danny Vukovic, so I am pleased we're finally covering all our weak spots :-)

Being 22 and transferring between nations, we would have had to pay some training compensation for Pennington. That is surely a sign of confidence in his abilities.

I love all how people are putting Bell at League 1 level, which is arguably lower than where he is now.

Bell more than held his own against Japan, a side laced with players playing in top leagues around the world. He looked as good as any other midfielder in our pool play.

Yep, anytime an u23 player moves between countries it is owed.

Looking at Example 4 on Page 9, we might have paid up to 100k USD. However clubs can agree to less iirc. https://www.footballaustralia.com.au/sites/ffa/files/2020-06/19-0530%20-%20FFA%20Guide%20to%20Training%20Comp%20and%20Solidarity.pdf

As much as I rate Bell, he's a long way off being a Premier League signing. Only played 10 games for Viking last season. He'd be more likely to go to a League 2 or even League 1 club at a push.

What? He played 29 games for Viking last season, and already has 10 games this season. He’s rated as one of the best midfielders in Norway, which is quickly becoming a very well scouted league due to all the young talent coming through, similar to Belgium, just the money is yet to catch up so the clubs aren’t at quite ready to make UCL group stages and what not.

Recent departures from the Eliteserien have been to AC Milan (Hauge), Watford (Zinckernagel), Ferencvaros (Zachariassen), who were last seasons UCL group stage, PAOK (Pereira) etc. I don’t think League 2, or even League 1 clubs would be able to afford what Viking would want for him, not to mention it wouldn’t make sense to go to a league like that. If and when he’d leave I’d imagine it would be to either a top 5-12 or so league, or to a second tier of one of the top 5 leagues.

That was the season before according to Wiki? Yeah the Eliteserien has had some players get decent moves, but there's a big difference between those you've linked and Bell.
Hauge - played over 100 games for the top team in the league the past few seasons and Zinckernagel has played similar.
It's fair to say, I may've been overly critical suggesting League 2, Viking are definitely a decent club, the point I was trying to make was that Bell's not anywhere near EPL level yet. If he did go to a club, he'd inevitably be sent out on loan to a lower league club. I also don't think League 1 is a bad league - some of the clubs in there are large and are only really there due to financial incompetence.

The Eliteserien is a summer league because a winter league in Norway would mean too much of a mid season gap, so it runs the same calendar as New Zealand leagues (ie 2020 was last season, 2021 is this season)

The season he played 10 games is this season, still ongoing! Four assists already.

He's absolutely at Championship level minimum imo. He doesn't have to be a nailed-on starter every single week for a West Brom or Fulham, but he's more than good enough to play a significant role at a large number of clubs in the division. He's Viking's best midfielder, and likely a top three player overall.

I'd 100% take him at West Brom, we've only got three central midfielders in Livermore, Mowatt and Sawyers and after Sawyers' last two seasons I'd much rather have Bell in his place.

As some who watches a lot of league one I think your underestimating its quality.  Don't forget that was where Taylor last played in the UK and he was not standout.  League 1 is better then most divisions in Europe with the Championship being one of the very best.

Wanderers fans seem utterly convinced they have signed Piscopo. This seems to be based on him being quarantined in Sydney (I'm pretty sure you don't get to pick where your quarantine). Very strange.

I also heard the same from someone but just look to be rumours. We did pay a fee for him so doubt we would let him go unless they payed us. He probably just flew back to Sydney to join the rest of his Aussie team and does have an injury

Surely there's a 0% chance we release him given the fee we paid. Figure there's about as much to this as there were with the David Ball rumours. No reason for the Nix to make a donation to WSW.
