Al-Taay at WSW too (or Kraev depending which you were counting).
They probably look at their bank accounts and dont really care. Plus I'm not sure we sign Eze if Kosta stays and I'm happy with that trade.
With all the recent chat about the locker room being better this season and Kostas obvious (and justifiable) on-pitch frustration last year, I cant help but wonder...
I would cut Al-Taay a lot of slack. He came to us from WSW and he returned there again. And despite some suspicious comments here, we can't really question it when he said it was for family reasons. Western Sydney is where he is from and where his family is, unlike Rudan's relocation from Sydney to Melbourne via Wellington.
Don't fully agree with this. He had two years at Newcastle before coming here so it's not like it was his first time away from home. He made a lot about his connection with Chiefy, got a decent amount of minutes here (at least in season one), then mutually cancelled the contract in S2.
A-League contracts aren't worth the paper they're printed on. Whether his reasons to leave were genuine or not, it's VERY easy to get out of a deal then publicly cite 'family/personal reasons'.
Having said that, I have no connection to al-Taay or the situation, so I'm certainly not going to call him a liar or anything.
Well at least we can't finish at the bottom of the table this round. Even though the Victory are having a bad run, they'd still beat us.image.png110.33 KB

We beat Brisbane so technically we're tied first, right?.... Right?!?!?
If Jets beat or draw against AFC we'll only be 4 points off 1st. The table is all very tight. A win against AFC next week will be so big for us then going into two home games against CCM and Jets both very winnable.
In all seriousness, how did we beat Brisbane who since then bounced back and are now second, while we were beaten by Macarthur???
Chief said in his post match review that we're still very inconsistent. I think you've pointed out exactly what he is talking about.
Brisbane are a very good team and play physically and aggressively. They out muscled AFC in Auckland to get a draw. We managed to beat them tactically and in the physical battle too yet looked completely flat against Macarthur

Thanks - did you mean to say "consistent" or "inconsistent"?
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Inconsistent. On this one I'll claim auto-correct on my phone to be the culprit.
Thank god I wasn't trying to say something about the all blacks... Or Adelaide eh - could have ended much worse for me

A rabbit, a priest and an imam walk into a cafe. The waitress asks: "what will you all have, gentlemen?" The imam says: "cardamom chai for me, thanks". The priest says: "a weak tea with milk, and a biscuit, please". The waitress turns to the rabbit and asks: "How about you, young fella?" Rabbit shrugs: "I don't really know.... I am only in this joke because of autocorrect".

Adam Griffiths seems to be doing a good job. On one hand I'm happy for Perth fans, on the other hand seeing ex Nix succeed isn't fun. image.png113.16 KB
After 7 games we are only 3 points ahead of last-placed Melbourne Victory.
They, and the Jets, are the only two teams with less points than us. We play both of them over the next 3 games (as well as the Mariners).
Now if we were a normal club I would say these are make or break must win fixtures but of course we could lose all 3 and there would be no consequences so why even bother.

you say all that and use the "we are only 3 points ahead of last-placed Melbourne Victory" to make out how shot things are, and granted being that close to the bottom is scary - if didnt have over half the season to go. What you seem to ignore is that we are only 3 points behind 4th placed Brisbane.
isnt it amazing how a couple of statistics can be spun to push an agenda!
The point was that our next 3 games are crucial because they are all against teams that are behind us (Mariners losing last night has put them behind us as well). Two of three at home too so they are about as must-win as they can get. The sort of fixtures that responsible management would be keeping an eye on and seeing us lose would have alarm bells ringing.
Also, being 3 points behind 4th might be notable if we were trending upwards but we have lost 3 of the last 4 so of course the first instinct is to look down.
That home loss to Macarthur keeps bothering me more than the derby loss. In some ways that game was more indicative of our quality as it had none of the emotional loading attached that the derby has As far as I can recall, we had never previously lost to Macarthur at home. Others may correct me. And our inability to score in that game reminded me that for several weeks now neither Eze nor Armento were able to get into a clear scoring position.

We lost to them last season 2-1.. with Rojas sitting up Kosta in his only good play of the season, I think it was after the first derby Mainland FC

Ah, thanks for that. Still, I honestly do not think we should have lost to them this time.

I think weirdly Nix vs Macarthur is a fixture that has generally been better for the away team. We tend to beat them more in Campbelltown and they beat us more in Welly
