Lol I'll take it.
Going to retract my pessimism about the coming Victory game. Their recent 5-1 against us and the 4-0 against Sydney distracted me from the fact they haven't won outside Melbourne since October.

No matter how badly AFC are doing before they play us, no matter how good we are playing, if I was a betting man I'd still back AFC to win. Nix cannot win big games.
They have lost every playoff tie they have been in for well over 10 years, lost to the Mariners with 3 rounds to go to throw away the 23/24 Premiership, have lost 5/5 derby games. I am already resigned to the Nix losing derby #6 and can only be pleasantly surprised.
I think it is a matter of percentages rather than a black or white absolute scenario For example, on percentages, we were more likely to beat Melbourne City last weekend than to lose. We were more likely to lose away to Brisbane when Armiento was sent off, than to win. On recent form of both teams, we have a better chance of a "no loss" result against A-FC in the next derby than ever before, regardless of our respective table positions. Everything else is just glass half empty stuff.
Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
Its been a very average season so far. But if we can put 2 wins in a row together and pick up draws...we will sneak into the play-offs. With Singh and tulimona that should be achievable.

Honestly with the players he has now if Chief doesn't either make the 6 and then make a decent finals run or make the top 4 it will probably be it for him.
I don't necessarily buy the narrative that it is his fault these last two seasons. It is just that if the club doesn't make finals two years in a row there will be changes made.

To be honest I think our seasons goal will be to avoid the wooden spoon. We are so inconsistent. If Adelaide win we will need six points to get to sixth. We will need to go on an amazing run or have other teams screw up for us to get top six.
Based on previous seasons, 38 points is the mark you need to hit for 6th. With how close this season has been, maybe 35 could just sneak in.
There are 10 games left (4 home, 6 away), so probably need to win at least 6 of them.

Can rule out the Auckland game too. At least we have 2 games against the team (currently) bottom of the tree. But I think that if we fail to win in Parramatta on Friday then you can effectively write us off.
ruling games out is plain dumb if you ask me, any team can beat any other team in this league. we may not win against City or AFC but we could steal a point against them, particularly at home.
seems like even you are almost ruling out the possibility of us winning those games, which was the point. We likely need 6 wins, draws do little for us nowtheprof

unlike you im a realist, I know those games are gonna be tough, but say for example we draw those three and win the remaining seven games, that gives us 26 additional points form where we are now on 19. Total 45 points gets us very close to top 3 or 4. Is 7 wins likely - probs not, so lets assume 5 wins (15), 3 draws (3) and 2 losses. Another 18 to our current 19, puts as at 37, which should mean we hit the 6.
If I was setting targets, that would be what I'd be demanding, minimum 18 points from the next 10 games.

To be realistic, 1.8 points per game is a lot, that would bring is close to the 23/24 season category of 1.93 But maybe with good run of games we get into 6th and then fingers crossed.
We are second bottom, we have the worst defensive record in the league, we are winless in 3 and in our most recent game we lost at home to a team that hadn't won on the road since October. There is nothing realistic about expecting us to make the top 6, I am afraid. It will be a truly impressive feat if we pull it off.

Hope like hell the team dosnt take your negative attitude into games AS football often shows us anything can happen on the day. Happy to be overly optimistic for me thats much better than being constantly negative and only looking on the downside all the time.
No point ruling out any games. That’s the point of football.
We were easily 2 easy Eze’s up over City before our defense succumbed to being dopey.
We get on a run with this team we can do anything. But we gotta start yesterday basically. Chief has gotta iron out what is going on with our lad James. Will be annoyed if it’s James to the bench.
Hope Mileusnic is okay soon. He’s had hustle.
Auckland beat us by a goal and lost two players doing so first time. Let’s not call them invulnerable either.
Attack, attack, attack and quit slow passing it at the back. And as Fenix said, not every move has to go all the way back and start with Tuiloma or another CB.
We have both Auckland and Sydney in our next 3 games, and anybody who watched the game between them yesterday knows we are going to struggle to win either of those games
Look on the bright side. In Singh we trust! Hes going to engineer a stellar run of form where we smash everyone and soar into the top three. He tops the assist table and Eze gets the golden boot Or we decide to play Chiefy ball and bore our way into a bottom three finish and YF go into total meltdown. I would prefer option A.....please!
Looking at the table after the last round I find incredible that we scored 9 goals more than Brisbane and even 7 goals more than M City this season. Sorry to sound like a broken record, but the reason we are one spot above the last team is that we are leaking goals like a sieve.

Perversely that’s a good thing: better to have a clear well-defined problem we can focus on fixing than “everything’s broken and we don’t even know where to start.”
I'd like to think AKH can re-find his good form before he was injured. Sure McCarron looked solid and was starting to grow into the job, but AKH is clearly meant to be the #2 keeper so you'd hope he can lift his game to meet the needs. Consistency and growth is what we need, not constant change.
Exactly if the defensive woes can be fixed, wins can flow.
I'm be tempted to revert back to McCarron. Two impressive clean sheets away to Roar & SFC. He seems a better shot stopper than AKH??
I actually thought it was bonkers to replace McCarron after he'd been playing well. Regardless of whether or not AKH should be our no.2. We had started to show signs of consistency, but maybe the 4-1 pumping was too much?

Ten to go. Five very winnable if we fix probs / hit our straps.
Three very very hard games we might see nothing from. But it's football, there's always hope, right.
And the couple of Melbourne games. If we hit our straps then no reason why not something from those. Apart from all the reasons why not.
Five wins and a couple of draws might be enough for top six. That has to start v WSW. And then finding a way to get a point or two from AFC SYD NWC would be ideal for the table and for confidence.
We live in hope. We've added and got players back from injury, so there is no reason for the season not to improve.
COYN. Especially James, BT, AKH and the guys supporting them in D.

Melbourne Victory 1 Brisbane 1 Sydney 1 Adelaide 2 image.png116.17 KB I'll repeat what I said last week, we need to get on a winning streak big time. 27 points up for grabs, we need all of them.
So currently sixth team Victory is on 24 points. We have 20. With our goal difference we need to get 25 points. Which is two wins or a win and two draws......while Victory gets zero. We are now in the zone of needing other teams to regularly drop points and as we know that rarely works.
Not going to even bother with the first game. Sydney 1 Brisbane 0 Melbourne City 1 Melbourne Victory 3 image.png116.57 KB We'll either be bottom of table next week or the week after. image.png50.89 KB
The Wanderers lead the Mariners. If it stays this way and the Mariners avoid defeat next Saturday, we will be dead last when we kick off against Sydney next weekend.
No matter the Mariners/WSW result we are sinking to 11th tonight.
Edit: Mariners got up. So we stay 2.5 points ahead of 12th due to our terrible GD. Fingers crossed the Wanderers dont win next Saturday, wouldnt be nice going into the Sunday Sydney game dead last.
Kinda crazy that without the derby results, we are 5-5-5 from 15 matches and Auckland are 6-5-4. Not a huge difference. Those derbies have been killers in so many ways.
Vuck 1 Adelaide 1 image.png117.29 KB Lets hope results go our way this weekend, including aUcKlaNd winning even though this makes me sick to my stomach.
We're actually unbeaten in 10 games if you add our wins and draws together.
