It Could Be the Phoenix's Biggest Crowd for an A-League Game

According to tonights commentators they were saying that "our first home game against the Victory set a new record for a club match in NZ, until next Fridays game against Adelaide on the back of the Galaxy double header ticketing - predicting 20,000"

My understanding is Ticketek didn't promote the rights to both tickets for the same price very well - anyone make any comment on this?

It'd be great to have 20,000+ watch us smash Adelaide on the back of some promising football at the Dome tonight and then have a full house for an entertaining festival match v Galaxy on Sat........all in 25 deg stunning conditions and the whole of Wellington and beyond fall in love with football.....ahhhh the BEAUTIFUL game!!!

I need another vodka!!!

Yes... and based on my work place, some of them had the impression the Galaxy ticket will get them in to both (seeing as 'BOTH'  is printed on the tickets).

Yea, that's caused confusion with us as well. So Mum needs to go and try and get the Adelaide tickets out of Ticketek now. She's not going to be happy afterwards...

I suggest Yellow Fever take control of all ticketing for football related events in New Zealand. It could be a good money earner for you guys, and would ensure everyone gets a fair deal.

Botafogo - Rio de Janeiro and Wellington Phoenix, my two teams til death do us part.

Great sounds like we might be headed for another shambles at the gates on friday nite.Just hope they havnt cocked this up as well,l as with potentially so many first timers attending it will not be a good look.Unfortunately for us it will be the Phoenix who gets the blame.
Maybe the club should get on the front foot and blame those dicks yet again.

or just program the turnstiles to let people in with both on the tickets. there might be a bit of angst about people in each others seats. But that would be better than the sh*t storm that would happen if thousands of people got turned away at the gates.

As isolated as influenza in winter.

Someone at Ticketek needs to hand in their resignation IMHO.

Tony P reads this forum so maybe he'll see how confused people are on here so he might come up with a plan to make the biggest weekend in ages for NZ football a smoother one.

One can only hope Tony P has gotten a monkey to take over ticketing at the ground. Thats the only way to outsmart ticketmess is by being smarter

Only 27,000?  My friend, coming from the quiet Queen City you may want to bring some ear plugs with you.  (See the Danny Hay article on the front page to see what I mean.)  27,000 in the stadium will be an aural assault!

Perhaps we should make a banner/chant to point the blame squarely at Ticketek for this impending screwup.

we are coming down on the friday for adelaide, looking forward to being in a larger than normal crowd, only downer is my tickets are in aisle one.the fever zone is soo far away from there.hopefully people in aisle one won't mind standing and yelling.if they do too  bad i am going to be standing and yelling at the top of my lungs to support our team.

they couldn't do that to the turnstiles it would be a riot inside the stadium!

I got tickets for a friend for the Galaxy game and thank god I read on here that just because it had "BOTH" on them didn't mean they would get into both
I went in to get the extra tickets for the Adelaide game and they aren't anywhere near where they are for the Galaxy game, so they have  sold a huge amount but somehow I think alot of people haven't been issued them...so could have a major impact on crowd size!!

The lady at Holiday Shoppe in Porirua was so embarressed and went through the file with the info for the game and no where did it have the fact that two tickets should be issued even though she had followed the instructions and clicked both games on the computer!

I told friends that bought their tickets from the same place so they went back in to get ones for Friday.

Ticketek and Wellington Phoenix both will know about this so they should be doing some kind of advertising letting people know so they don't turn up on Friday expecting to get it with Saturdays ticket or vice versa!!

I have the same concerns as FM's post - for example the guy in front of me at Ticketek a few weeks ago was going thru a very long-winded re-booking process because he had not originally been given Adelaide tickets.

My suggestion would be, to avoid complete dis-enchantment, ?Ticketek  set up special ticketing booths at the stadium on Friday night to issue the free tickets to all those fans turning up with Galaxy tickets but without tickets for the Friday game.
Those fans being turned away by the stewards because they have the wrong ticket can just be pointed in the direction of the special booths where correct tickets can be issued (on production of a Galaxy ticket).

what say you, Tony P?

I seem to recall the booth idea was what was originally going to happen...... till we all clicked on an earlier post that u did in fact need 2 sets of tickets..result Im in aisle23 for Galaxy and 15 for Adelaide!  That was the best they could do and that was fixed about 4 weeks ago. I agree with the need for advertising to heighten awareness..or have plan B for getting people thru the turnstiles and not all queued up there as realisation dawns that 2 tickets are needed..

A small town in Europe........looking to bounce straight back up....well that aint going to happen

ive been thinking of ways to make the weekend bigger for footbal, its far to late to organise it now but i think this would have been cool
move all the nzfc games 2 welly for the weekend, play 2 on sat and 2 on sun at newtown park and another suitable venue, would have encouraged more people to come to into town and more football people at that. might get show down by some of the hard cores and im sure some of the clubs might not like it i think it would have added something extra for the weekend

I bought my LA tickets in the very first week of sales with a season pass and had to get Adelaide tickets in Ailse 15 casue YF zone hadn't been released yet. So for LA we're all together in the YF zone but the other guys are at the other end of the stadium for Adelaide.
DOwn with Ticketek

Its no longer a problem.

I disagree, I'm guessing the four hosting clubs this upcoming round might get higher attendance from people getting into Becks-fever, which will hopefully attract more fans to their respective teams. Moving them would negate that and the NZFC won't get as much of a popularity boost.

Having a Team Welly match as an opener, pref. against Auckland (population) broadcasted with the match would probably be better to give the NZFC some national exposure. I'm just hoping the casual fans who watch the Galaxy match get as hooked as I did at my first Phoenix match, then start to either join us in the Ring of Fire or at their respective NZFC stadium.

I've already posted this on another thread - however, this seems a "better" place for it

Not sure where to post this - but this seems a good area.

We (Phoenix / Fever) have huge opportunity this weekend to lift the profile of the beautiful game to a new level for Wellington and NZ. However we all have to play our part.

We will have at least 5000 football virgins at the game on Friday, and another 5,000 (with luck) on Saturday - we need to make it a fantastic experience for them, so they want to come back again.

So.
- Lets have one fever organising chants - no splinter groups this time
- No beer bottle throwing
- For those outside the fever zone - get behind the team - join in the chants
- Wear all the Phoenix / fever stuff you have - if you don't have any - get yourself down to Ryos / Champs or the phoenix store and put your hand in your pocket
- Be nice to the new attendees
- If you've been to games before - get there early, this will make it easier for the people unused to the protocol / security
- Please keep to your allocated seating - remember you will probably have a different seat for both games

Enjoy - I am so looking forward to the weekend
