I hope I get a bit less stick from a few people on here who are always mad at me for being negative. The likes of ballane who is always seething at me. It is all completely justified and I stand vindicated
I certainly won’t be travelling down for our first home game. I’ll be very careful this season and won’t be wasting good money again if this continues.Ninja
How can they expect anyone (even die-hard fans like us) to show up and pay good money to continue to watch us lose like this.
Only silver lining for me is 30 mins in the first half we looked alright, and LBS had his best game that I've seen. Otherwise, it's all more of the same and nothing to be excited for, for the new season.
This is our third competitive match. No excuse for preseason jitters now.

For me that's late 2023. Chelfy was lucky in that season, having prodigies in Paulsen and Surman (thanks djtim3000 for reminding me), Kosta playing well and more then our fair share of good luck.
We were pants all last season and have picked up where we left off.
I'd rather they go now and let others at least have some time to change things before the season starts. If not, the Nix will have attendances that would embarrass the NZ Knights.

Also a prodigy in Surman - how many times was he making those blocks that stopped 3/4 goals tonight? We weren't scoring a lot but we were fudgeing hard to break down, turns out it was probably more by accident than anything.
Chiefy will of course claim we ‘won’ the stats (xG, total shots, passes completed etc) and therefore not as bad as scoreline suggests. Lies, damn lies and statistics. EDIT: Something farked about the xG - it just seems way wrong.
I wish Chiefy had some honour, he might have resigned months ago and we wouldn't have to be suffering through this right now

A day late, a buck short as always with this club. How long are we going to tolerate this nonsense?
Say what you want about it just being a "pre-season hitout" but a prime chance right there to have a crack at the clubs first ever silverware. Set up a heated NZ derby for the semi finals. Nah not interested, its just a pre-season jaunt. It doesn't matter. We'll you know who it does matter to? The fans!
But hey we did earn a record this run at least? The record of biggest cupset defeat. Both in number of cupsets being on the receiving end of. And margin of loss. A double whammy record. How cool is that?
We spent all of last season not being able to get more than one or two shots on target and that looks to continue as evidenced by abysmal performances against amateur and semi pro clubs like Heidelberg and bloody 3rd division relegation contenders Nunawading.
The club and coach lied through theit teeth when he said they were a result or two away from turning it around last season, and they are lying through their teeth again if they say that there are positives to take away from this cup run, and that the team is showing signs of being where we need to be to compete come start of the new season. Amazing that you can even have the ability to lie through your teeth when everything aboht the way you perform is utterly toothless.

At this point the best course of action would be just to bring in Greenie as head coach. The coach doesn't need to be world class (no slight on Chris at all), but just needs to a) be different and b) have the respect of the players - which given his legend status Greenie has in spades.

Also ifs become clear to me that LKH, Sheridan and dare i say it Roa Conchie arent going to be any good in the mens a league. Sometimes you can just see a players limitations and these guys just dont belong at this level. Ditching those guys wont happen as they are academy players and it would be an indictment on the academy but not every crop of players will deliver. But we arent ruthless enough to say that.
Youd expect every Nix player to be as good or better than an amateur but i found myself questioning that.

I’m picturing a world where they decide to bring Greenie in as of tomorrow. It’s an odd one, but….one with some shooting on goal now and again.

I totally support you being negative tonight. I'm just as disgusted by the performance. For a brief moment at the start of the game I thought things had changed but Hughes thought he was a striker again
The level of the A league in general has dropped as declining revenue from TV has been replaced with a model that tries to promote young talent to sell into Europe. The result is we get to see lots of promising young players but the reality is the NPL is full of older better players. NPL budgets are not inconsequential.
So in the Australia Cup we are seeing promising kids v experienced footballers. Will those kids in time become better players...no doubt in some cases but by then they won't be plying their trade in the A league.
It's not fluke that the top 2 team in the Victoria NPL are still in the Australia cup. In the round of 32 we saw Apia beat Melbourne city.
The A league has changed and is becoming a kids development league and Nix are at the forefront of this move. This is just an economic reality of what they need to do to survive. Nix need to find a home ground that actually produces some income rather than fund the stadiums opex.
If this trend continues the question is will this still be called the A league ? We are on the way to a B grade.
I think Sheridan could have been a good RB but hasn't been given the chance to develop into one, bad luck having Payne ahead of him. Certainly doesn't seem to be good enough in any other position. More generally agree about Roa Conchie and LKH but to be honest it could be entirely different for all of them if there was a better manager and the club was run better.JasperNix

Game 1 - played decently, defended well and looked fiesty in the middle vs an offseason/holiday mode Championship side Game 2 - started well but faded and ultimately held on to penalties which we narrowly won against an awful Perth Glory team Game 3 - stumbled to an unconvincing 1-0 win over a third-tier amateur club Game 4 - thrashed 4-0 by a semi-pro club

You can't put much weight on the game against Wrexham.
At half time I came to the conclusion that at least four players..Conchie, Sloane-Rogers, Supyk, Sheridan are still quite far from playing at this level. The commentators were using expressions like ...powderpuff, toothless, anemic to describe our play. So whats changed from last season? To say theres lots to do is a massive understatement. To play like that against amateurs is unforgivable. On the plus side Loke was lively and did some good stuff. Our first eleven might be ok.....but they need to be coached properly
I gave up watching after the third goal... but to be fair I probably gave up after our last game.
For everyone saying we can't afford mutuals, how much money will we lose in gate takings this year based on this crap... how much of the fan base will disengage?
