Exactly.

I bet they will call out the lucky winners and give them a season pin and lanyard as well.  I'll f*cking hit the roof if that happens.

Jesus wept?  Mods, take control. Etc.

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Good morning all

In the interests of bringing some clarity to this idea, here is a bit of an explanation as the club's thinking around the theme for the 29th.

As many of you have quite rightly pointed out the 'Black Out' theme is about getting those people at the margins - the kids/families/teenagers - to come to the game on Jan 29. These are the ones who turn a 8000 crowd into a 10,000+ crowd. These people respond to an 'event' or a 'theme' to get them out of their apathy - and the concept needs to be simple, easy to pick up on and fun

The theme itself comes from a charity intiative around the game that we are running with one of our main charity partners - Cure Kids. So we are working with them and a couple of key supppliers including adidas to come up with something a bit different which will hopefully raise a lot of money for Cure Kids. The whole thing should come together on the day which will tie it all together! At least that's the plan ....!

Going forward, intiatives like this and the Capital Football/local football club revenue share are ways we want to rebuild the club. We're not about telling people to come to the games, we're about being part of the community and becoming so much so that people come to games because it's part of living and being a Wellingtonian.

Apologies if the execution is not to your taste. But it lends itself well to the charity fundraising for Cure Kids that we will be doing at the game. We work closely with Cure Kids on a number of intiative each year and they are an amazing and inspiring charity doing incredible things. If it means we can raise an extra couple of thousand dollars and make some kids and their families lives better - some of who are facing incredible challenges - then it's been worthwhile.

I hope this goes some way to explaining our approach to the Jan 29 game. Ultimately it's all about getting more people to the game and helping out a very worthwhile charity that helps improve and saves the lives of kids all over New Zealand.

As always, many thanks for the outstanding support that Yellow Fever brings to the club! See you on the 29th and Come on the Nix!

Why does it? The charity is excellent of course, and deserves everyone's support.
All I read above is "Blah".
This is still an utterly unoriginal,  crap idea. BTW Marketing Honchos- the best way to fill the stadium is to win games- that is tried and tested.
Also you don't start a sentence with a preposition, but I expect you communications professionals were just testing us......

I'm sure that's what most people are thinking of when they are rubbing one out.

Has anyone informed Coldplay?

Chris Martin may not like it...

We can use this to hijack onto the "go black" internet campaign going on at the moment (to do with the Stop Online Piracy Act stuff).

Why would a club that compliments you on your creativity and passion, tell you what to wear to a game?
Permalink Permalink
about 14 years ago · edited over 13 years ago
They didn't TELL anyone what to wear.

They ASKED people to get in behind a promotion, connected to a charity, linked to one of the clubs two primary colours.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Do we have to wear black socks as well? Because I thought a cool new idea might be if we all wore lucky red socks.

After 80 mins do we take our red socks off and put our pants back on ?

We obviously can`t touch our new black shirts
