Love that Fever do stuff like this!

It's way cooler than that gang that made sammies for those hungry kids. But don't tell them I said that.

This is getting huge!  With $1600 raised, food & beverage covered as well as transport I suggest we go for two families.

Thoughts?

approximately $1600 covers one family to each game for the season (see this post). Precise costings are altering as various parties offer to pay for parts of the puzzle, but the general budget will be something like that. So we need to approximately double what we have raised so far (which could happen with the initiatives afoot), but let's not worry about a second family just yet...

I'm keeping a second family in mind if budgets allow but it is still really up in the air so am just focusing on the one.

Thanks to Manfred and Exodus we now have a voucher for six months to the gym to sell as well, this one I will keep separate from the Westpac Raffle and am looking to sell through Trade Me. I have spoken with Smithy and he has given me a contact there to try sell it with them charging us no fees so all money goes into the fund.

Brandon, I've been impressed by the way this has evolved but must have missed 5 pages. I thought the intention was to encourage attendance and to support the nix by offering a bought ticket to Joe Bloggs to attend a game.

Now it is the full shebang to a family who are having a tough time for the whole of the season..

Did I miss something on this journey..

Yeah this kind of changed from Brendon's original idea, it was mention that people would donate if money went to getting a family from Ronald McDonald House to the games instead of to give random people tickets. I really liked the idea and got in touch with them to see if we raised the cash they would have a family. From their it became a season ticket and kept growing.

On the second bit, I have opened up a new account which all funds will be going into and only funds that have come from money raised by YF and the Auction/Raffle. All purchases made from this account will only be for things associated with what we are trying to do here. I will keep all receipts and at anytime if people want to know where the money is going, I will be able to provided those details.

Sorry Yakcall I wasn't taking a dig - if you missed it, stuff took a dig at YF exec for their lack of transparency, the original article doesn't appear to be online any more but read this for context on that statement:

Hey no worries, knew it was at Dom Post and not me. Just thought for anybody's piece of mind on where this money is going, I wanted them to know that it'll all be accounted for and people can feel happy donating and it'll all go to the cause.

Easy to do - things have morphed bloody quickly.

So here's the Oxford abridged summary...

Yes, this thread used to be called Brandon's Phoenix Ticket Challenge or something like that.

If you go back and read the first post, I said I was going to buy a ticket for each home game and give it away... and I am still going to do that.

I challenged others who could afford to to do the same. And others are. RedGed for example is buying a ticket for each home game and he and I are still going to walk down Lambton Quay on Friday and give tickets to people as a random-act-of-kindness.

However, from small beginnings, great things grow...

Matt (Yakcall) said "Great Idea... I am going to buy a family pass for this weekend's game, and give it to a kid and their family at Ronald McDonald House..."

And a bunch of people said - man! That's a great idea, can I contribute? I'll happily commit funds to that... maybe we could do it every game? Maybe we could give them a Yellow Fever scarf too? etc. etc.

Once it became apparent to me that there was more than the ordinary amount of good will and support for the idea I suggested to Matt, based on the success of the YF funsdraiser for the Football United John Alder and Liam Sweeny appeal, that we start a www.givealittle.co.nz fund so that people could donate to the cause.

And, well, the rest is history...

The Yellow Fever faithfull have embraced the idea, Ronald McDonald House have emebraced the idea, WestpacTrust Stadioum have embraced the idea, The Wellington Phoenix have embraced the idea, Bethel Woods have emebraced the idea - and so far we've raised $1630 with more to come in the proceeds from raffles of elite members lounge passes, and all sorts of stuff.

It's bloody fantastic.

So far the only people I can think of who haven't embraced the idea are the Doom Post, but I sent them some tweets earlier today saying "how cool is this story?" so maybe they will catch up soon.

Life is good.

Morale is high.

Come on you Nix!

Lol. Generally, charitable causes picking fights with other charitable causes is a bad idea. But charitable causes picking fights with other charitable causes run by gang members definitely takes the cake as a monumentally bad decision!

So I did another budget looking at what we have and based off 11 games remaining. (Haven't factored in Auckland at this stage)

Season Ticket - $400 (Now paid for)

YF Scarf x22 - $770 (2 per family)

Food x11 - $550 ($50 per family)

Parking - $0 (now free)

Programme x11 - $33

Total = $1,753.

With us having $1,740 we have pretty much paid for this completely now and we still have the raffle and auction to go to raise funds.

I'm working out that one with Smithy and RYOS, so at this stage I'm budgeting RRP.

aJC28 - Westpac offered either the VIP experience or vouchers for the family, I thought we could get more by raffling off the experience so am going with that. I just need to get raffle books and some posters made up and I'll bring them along on Sunday for people to sell.

I'm looking at selling 200 tickets for $2 each so each person has 1/200 odds of winning and we will make $400 from the raffle.

This is my worst fair to be honest. I don't think we will have a problem getting a family each week as RMH have been good but we are dealing with sick kids and there could be a chance they take a turn and not able to attend on the day.

If people have backup ideas that would be good, but otherwise I'm not sure what else I can do about something in that situation.

Feel like I'm constantly commenting on here but this is exciting news.

We have confirmation of our first family for our VIP experience to watch the Nix this Sunday. The Bradley Family are really looking forward to there day out. I'll be meeting them at 4.30pm on the concourse to give them tickets etc and get them in.

Yep, could be a problem with sick kids, depending on their treatments etc. How about a Reserve Kid? If the first one can't go the Reserve goes instead- if the Reserve doesn't go when they are the Reserve, they get bumped up and guaranteed the following week?
