plus, by that logic, a player that plays well on a losing side wouldn't get picked for the next game - I think Durante deserves to play against the Jets cos he's been one of our most consistently gutsy players

Cosi, you know better than that  - reversing my argument isn't a logical step in countering it

but we do both agree that Durante is worth a run

reversing any argument works surprisingly often...

it is obviously more complex than just retaining  the 11 who won last week

but - i hope ricki does reward as many as  possible of those who clearly fronted up on sunday

I agree. confidence is huge in a team (look what the warriors did this year, the Wests Tigers in 205 and Liverpool in the Champions League a few years back), and i think at least 9 or ten of the boys should retain their spots. The only change i would like to see is Johnson out for McKain (who has played DM for australia in the past 2-3 years) and maybe Durante in for Muscat (even though Muscat did have a good game last week). Dodd is a centre back and belongs there. Sigmund was terrific and authoritive. Brown was exactly what we needed and held his position well (unlike Ferrante). Reward the boys

Maybe they'll wheel out that fat old donkey they had playing for them at the back last season

I must admit seeing the Warriors all bearded up reminded me of the '82 All Whites all 'tashed up (well some of them) - with a little bit history about to unfold...

jets will probly line up something like this

---------------------covic------------------------

El**ch--------piorkowski---north------d'puzzo

hakansson--wheelhouse--spencer---thompson

---------------------song---------------------------

--------------------zura------------------------------

not the worst side ive ever seen to be honest, theyd probably beat perth with this side...despite  zura (from what ive seen) looking NOTHING like a marquee striker....

as long as we close down Song it should cut of most of the play in their attacking third...matt thompson is always full of energy too.....

im picking Nix 2-0 (i hope) but my head tells me we'll give away a stupid penalty for 2-1 win.

now there's a thought..all the Phoenix players and Rikki commit to growing moustaches for the rest of the season..a gesture of solidarity very similar to the Warriors this year.. top 4 finish guaranteed!
and we just have to show up in exactly the same gears as last Sunday...its in the bloody bag!!Sorted.

Improving,,on the up, a work in progress from Italiano and the Nix. Bring on the bathroom bling in '24! COYN!

Yeah, imagine Mossy or Paston with one of those bad boys. They could save penalties with it Jag2008-10-03 12:38:03

I have no idea, just heard on radiosport news saying they were omitted from the squad, no reasons as to why.

It seems there's more to the McKain story than what we know at the moment...

What about Moss? I thought he was out for another week. Now no McKain, back four is pretty straight forward.

Sigmund          Durante         Dodd            Lochhead

Can't see it being anything else, though Christie has a small chance possibly.

I don't think so.  The truth is we can only squeeze a certain number of backs in and Dodd and Siggy proved they should be some of them.

I heard that McKain went to Aussie for his sisters wedding and that was organised before he was signed. Seems odd that he's left out now. Maybe Ricki simply rates Sigmund, Dodd and Durante ahead of him in this case?

Sigmund should NOT be right back by the way. It will not work imo.

Disappointing that Leo is still injured.

I agree Case...Sigmund is in fine form after his All Whites and Sydney game at CB. He's playing like Nelson.

Radio Sport said this is the side:
                                       Paston
Durante          Sigmund            Dodd           Lochhead
                         Johnson            Brown
Gao                                                           Kwasnik
                 Coveny              Smeltz

... so just one change, Durante for Muscat.

I like the look of that side. Still think we need another central midfielder of quality

(we have daniel, costa and even kwasnik as backup to covs up front)
