If Ifill signed a contract with another club a month ago, and did all sorts of media interviews and publicity for his new club, while still playing for the Phoenix,  would you have a go at him for being unprofessional Steve-O?

How much longer left to go in the I-League? Maybe he is professional enough to not comment on next season, whilst he is still involved with his current team?

Probably this. West Ham fans still hate Paul Ince after he was pictured wearing a Manchester United shirt after signing for them while he was still a West Ham player.

Steve-O: Only happy when he is being miserable.

As a matter of interest, why are you posting? We've been playing well in our last 2 games. You only post when we are getting pasted.

:o)

Maybe, but I would at least expect him to publicly acknowledge what has happened, even if it's just a one-line throwaway quote in a press release.

I don't think there's anything sinister in it - but I am surprised we didn't manage to get a single quote from him out there somewhere just to capitalise on the signing.

Anyway, as long as james dean - YF's self-appointed devil's advocate and all-round merchant of doom - is happy, then I'm happy!

There's a less doomy option - Carlos is currently saying: "¡Ay ay ay! ¿Ricki fue partido? ¡Qué catastrofía!" and is just biding his time until he makes sure that the new coach knows what he's doing.

The man speaks! Sort of...

"The attacker Rican Carlos Hernandez has everything ready to leave the team Wellington Phoenix in New Zealand but which participates in the Australian Football League.

The player confirmed that he leaves immediately possibly injured since Thursday and would be at least 22 days out, what makes him miss the rest of the tournament in India with Prayag United.

"The truth is the option of returning to Australia ... would be the Wellington Phoenix, and almost everything is closed ... Now there is 90 percent for a fact I'm going there," said the footballer.

The Wellington Phoenix finished in last place in the table."

Source: Dodgy translation from Costa Rican football website

"Almost everything is closed"? "90% for a fact I'm going there"?? Hope there's something lost in translation there.

Anyway, despite the fact that it seems he is currently injured and looking to hightail it out of India, he did play for Prayag as recently as March 29, scoring in a 2-2 draw.

maybe 90% chance he will leave sooner than he thought? sounds like he was talking more about leaving early because he is injured?

Long time reader first time poster.   My sources advise me that the season in India finishes on the 25th of May and they believe that his contract finishes at the end of the month.   He wants to holiday with his family before coming to Wellington as I believe they found it hard in India and wanted to stay in Costa Rica.   He is very excited about the opportunity to play in NZ and cant wait to get here.  I will quiz my sources to find out other news and post when I get it.

And you know if he wants to take a holiday before coming here to help him get in the right frame of mind and potential homesickness, I have no problem with that whatsoever. Anything that will help him arrive here as 'the best Carlos we can have'

Found this on Goal.com India.
"I have not decided on Carlos Hernandez, as he has signed a deal with Wellington Phoenix and there is a legal problem regarding that, if he wants to stay. But he will have to decide. If he doesn’t stay we have other options."
Talks about a legal problem surrounding the signing? The grammar isn't great but is this signing 100% confirmed because Prayag don't think it is.

It would not surprise me if the problem was Visa related (just trying to thing what stops footballers playing in other countries).

If its true, not the best news

He was quoted on that Costa Rican site a few weeks back as saying the deal was "90%" done, he doesn't appear on the FFA's list of A-League off-season transfers, we haven't yet heard a word from the man himself via the club or NZ press. I'm really getting suspicious there's something up with this. Hopefully it's nothing more serious than delays in securing a work permit.

I know, that's the thing that's bothering me. Carlos hasn't said zip yet. And now reading that Prayag still reckon they've got a chance of keeping him. Hmmm.

I knew it. He's trying to back out now we've sacked his good mate Ricki.

Ricki was not sacked. He resigned.

Who knows. The new (soon to be appointed) coach may perhaps even breathe a sigh of relief, as he may have plans to bring a new attacking midfielder with him to the Nix...

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

maybe we are trying to get him listed as a marquee player and the FFA aren't letting us?

My guess is that he is just waiting on his visa to be approved, and the translation from Indian to English has just made this seem a lot worse than it is.

My guess is that he has signed for us - but has told Prayag it isnt 100%

I would do with my job if I was applying for a new job that didnt start til end of year - I wouldn't want to jeopardise my current role in case they cut me early

I was thinking bad translation of this:

"We don't know on Carlos, he has already signed with Wellington, so if he wants to stay there are legal problems there."

Basically a legal issue if they decide to extend him because he has already signed with us.

Of course the fact he is not on the A-League transfers worries me :P

Nah, the opposite.

Carlos rates Ricki so highly that he had a clause put in his contract that if Ricki should leave for any reason then Carlos can walk too.
