Ronnie Moore wasn't wrong!!
Profile pic. Should you be interested. Lakhsen, on the right, lost touch with him.
Mohammed, on the left, I'm still in touch with. He's now living in Agadez, Niger. More focused on his animals now as tourism has dried up. Is active with a co-op promoting local goods, leather work and bijouterie, into Europe.

Lucky 13 For Greenacre
Sunday, 6 February 2011

Wellington Phoenix celebrated its 100th Hyundai A-League game in style on Saturday night by beating Adelaide 1-0 at Hindmarsh Stadium and no one was happier than striker Chris Greenacre.

Greenacres 34th minute strike with a diving header was enough to secure three vital points and keep the Phoenix in the box seat in the dog fight for playoff places.

It was Greenacres 13th goal for the Phoenix but, surprisingly, was the first time he had scored the winning goal for his club.

Its always nice to score, and I know every goal is important but there is nothing better for a striker than to get the winner, Greenacre said.

It was a great cross from Marco (Rojas). As soon as he got the ball I was desperate to get into the box because his crosses are quality and this one was inch perfect.

Marco has been outstanding since he came into the side. He has won us games with his crosses and scored a couple himself.

It was a fantastic performance by our lads. We created some good chances and the fact we only scored one was down to the brilliance of Eugene Galekovic.

He is rated the best keeper in the league and he showed it. One save in particular, from Nicky Ward, was amazing.

It wasnt only the Phoenix creating chances though and its defence was under sustained pressure at times in the second half, but the back four of Troy Hearfield, Jade North, Andrew Durante and Tony Lochhead, along with goalkeeper Danny Vukovic held firm.

The most frightening moment for the Phoenix, fighting desperately for only its second away win of the season and its first ever in Adelaide, came late in the piece when Jade North miscued a clearance and thundered the ball against his own crossbar.

When the ball came back off the bar I knew we were going to win, Greenacre said.

Greenacre could have opened the scoring as early but his shot was scrambled off the goal line by defender Nigel Boogaard.

Phoenix coach Ricki Herbert signalled his intentions of going for a win by playing two up front with Dylan Macallister partnering Greenacre.

The move paid off and while they had their anxious moments at the back there were also periods when they peppered the Adelaide goal.

The only down side for the Phoenix was having captain Durante shown a yellow card for deliberate handball.

It was Durantes eighth caution of the season and means he will be suspended for Wednesdays game against Sydney FC and the final regular season match against North Queensland Fury on Sunday.

With Ben Sigmund and Manny Muscat already suspended for the Sydney encounter, along with Vinnie Lia being ruled out with a hamstring injury sustained on Saturday, Herbert has selection problems.

Lots of people, myself included, have questioned his re-signing for next year, but I gotta hand it to him, he can do a job when asked. He's great with another man in support with him, and even if he is destined to be an impact man next season, hes definitely gonna be able to do a job

Is Greenie still doing his kid's coaching clinics?

I believe he's well on his way to a serious FIFA coaching certificate.

Might make a good assistant coach for the Nix when he quits playing in the next couple of seasons.

That assumes he likes living in Wellingon.

Phoenix Striker Recovering From Operation
Wednesday, 23 March 2011

Chris Greenacre

While players and fans alike are lamenting a late start to next seasons Hyundai A-League, Phoenix striker Chris Greenacre is delighted.

Greenacre underwent a shoulder operation three weeks ago and the likelihood of the competition beginning on October 7 means he will probably be fit and raring to go when the season kicks off.

It was disappointing hearing we would have a longer than usual off season, but a late start now suits me down to the ground, Greenacre said.

Even with that I wouldnt have been able to think about making the start of the season had our physio Adam Crump and the surgeon, Robert Rowan, not
been able to get me in for the operation as soon as last season ended.

Unfortunately when they opened it up the injury was more serious than they thought and the last few weeks have been very painful.

Straight after the operation I was on medication I could induce myself and it was pretty strong stuff. I was in a happy place most of the time, though [wife] Lynsey was probably getting fed up with having to do everything for me!

At least with it being the left shoulder I could wash myself.

It is getting better day by day and I can now take the sling off when I am sitting down, and the specialist is pleased with the way it is progressing.

This is the first major operation Ive undergone and it is hard not being able to do simple things like running, something Ive always taken for granted.

During the season I would be in the gym lifting weights and looking forward to a break from it. Now I would love to be able to do it.

I was really looking forward to playing plenty of golf during the break but that too has obviously gone out the window.

The worst moment for Greenacre came when he went along to support his team-mates at the Hoops for Christchurch charity basketball game in Porirua soon after the operation.

At the end of the game I was standing on the court talking to a couple of the lads when a basketball came out of the blue and whacked me on my left arm.

I thought I was going to throw up on the court.

Chris Greenacre has joined the coaching staff at the Phoenix, with responsibility for "the front third of the pitch".

He's still on the playing roster.

He's still on the playing roster.

Do you think that it may mean he might play a lesser role as a player than in previous seasons?
