I'd settle for the same result even Chefmivec. Would be great to see another goalfest at the RoF Friday night.

Only 5000 tickets sold??? Are the Breakers going to get a bigger crowd than the phoenix?

Both great teams btw, be swtiching between channels I think.

I am surprised not to see Welnix dipping into their own pockets a little bit to promote this game. Even though they aren't getting the ticket revenue surely spending a bit to get people behind the team makes sense.

Then again, this really was just a place holder season for Welnix and I'm sure they're more than happy with the way things have gone considering the circumstances. Still the lack of promotion seems like a shame.

You'll never beat The Salmon!

Breakers have just released more tickets.  If we don't get more people coming to the Phoenix then Wellington has become apathetic.  Where have our fans gone?

This will be used as ammunition for games out of Wellington next year.... and frankly hard to blame them if we struggle to get 10 or 12 k for a final. It just does not have the feel that it did two years ago

I think everyone knew the breakers game would sell out because of the smaller venue, and therefore bought tickets as soon as they went on sale. People thinking about buying Phoenix tickets know that it won't sell out, so don't have the same urgency to buy a ticket.

I'm finding that by simply saying to everyone I know "What are you doing on Friday night?", and then telling them about the Phoenix game when they say that they have no plans, a lot of people that I wouldn't have thought would be keen to go have shown a genuine interest in going.

I encourage everyone who has bought tickets already to say this to EVERYONE they know.

You've got a point there patrick with vector being a smaller venue.  We have to get close to 20k or it will be disappointing for the boys, welnix.

Good work patrick on talking to people about it.

Finals two years ago came on the end of a fairly consistent run of good form, lots of goals and generally exciting play. This yeah, well, it hasn't been bad - but two losses leading up the finals + some fairly uninspiring wins (for the casual fan), dont help. It's all about the bandwagon in NZ sports.

I think you're right but most of the points you make relate to entertainment value - nothing to do with band wagoning.

What time?

This is pretty poor considering we are only 48 hours away from the game.

I have 20 phoenix virgins coming. why are tickets not selling? I don't buy into the rugby/basketball affecting ticket sales.

it really must be the novelty factor of last home finals aswell as our poor build up to the finals.

tell everyone to get to the game!! this pax is not good enough for finals football!

Its certainly a gamble. If the phoenix don't turn up to play I'm hoping the Yellow fever will make it a memorable occasion for them.

This is PAX related:

I'm guessing the PAX is working differently than normal because of it being run by FFA, and the members ticketing etc. This tweet means that we have sold at least 9000 now, basing on the Heart (13k crowd) presales number.

Personal feeling is that last time it felt like we were capable of winning the whole thing. This time it really would be a miracle.

That and poor results recently, plus Rugby etc.

Really hope so Mate. "standard PAX" indications of less than 6k are worrying.

Should also remember the Nix were predicting crowd of 20k on Sunday and we got less than half that. Hopefully big jumps today being payday for many and all that!

Tomorrow30 Mar
High 19C
Overnight 10C

Fine with light winds.

Perfect evening for football. A crowd less than 20k will be a massive disappointment.

We need a pax update.

First time in 5 years I will miss a Nix home game. My events manager told me last week that we have "that" diner Friday night and we will "Not" be cancelling. After screaming like a girl for 5 minutes I was reminded that 3 weeks ago I said this Friday night was OK for diner....she also said sulking won't help. ABSOLUTELY GUTTED!!!!!

Actually Friday night has not turned out to great for quite a few people I know. My brothers Golden oldies football team were going to come down from Auckland for the weekend and the game. They have cancelled....too difficult with jobs and families to do Friday night. So thats around 16 plus partners missing.

So to the YF....make lots of noise....ride the team home for a great win. I will be there in spirit....sob! sob!

Call in sick to work that day and say you are unable to physically make it to the dinner?
