To the tune of Bruce Springsteen's ""Drive all Night" off "The River" album... Towards the end of the song. It'd sound great on TV ;)

Ufuk, Ufuk, Ufudge Ufuk Ufuk Talay, Ufuk, Ufuk, Ufudge Ufuk Ufuk Talay.

Proud to have attended the first 175 Consecutive "Home" Wellington Phoenix "A League" Games !!

If he signs on and does badly, we can change his name to UFUK DUPP.

Does anyone have the coaching background info on Talay, I think he coached some young Socceroos but I'm not to sure.

According to Wikipedia he took over the under 20s from Okon and did alright at the afc Cup.

So possibly Talay would be another young Australian coach who'd cut his teeth as a senior HAL coach with a season of two at the Nix, then look to head back to Oz asap? Ala Rudan. Yes? Can we do better than that?

Interesting to see that Talay played with Rudan for a number of seasons at Sydney and then also at a Japanese club. Maybe like Vidmar he was interviewed under the recommendation of Mark. I think of the two I'd prefer Vidmar. He's got the same tough guy, straight shooter vibe but paired with excellent man management, particularly with youth. Definitely comes across as a Rudan type.

So old mate Ross throws his hat in the ring. He certainly goes all out with the love and enthusiasm in this one.

Yeah, we all like a rumour with some substance backed by quotes. But, that's pretty average judgement by Aloisi going public like that.

For a ‘one year deal’ there seems to be a reasonable amount of interest in becoming the Phoenix Coach - oh what a difference from last year where it seemed we had to beg for a coach.  IMO we need a coach that gets the best out of youth such as Singh and Cacace, along with other Academy graduates. IMO Talay (‘Ufi’ as Rudan calls him) should be signed ASAP although Ross Aloisi also warrants a look in. Being a ‘straight shooter’ is good but being an inspiration to the players is better in my book.

Surely Vidmar is in with a shout too

Talay sounds fantastic especially with his body of work and his supposed ambition. Vidmar also quality, we need someone that knows the league ASAP so we have as much time as possible to prepare for 2019/2020 and we can't shoot our shot on another foreign guy with no fudgein clue

Goal is reporting that we are set to announce Talay soon and is already looking at signings.

it's that covert agent guy right? Not sure about his accuracy. I think he works on the motto 'if you throw enough shark, some it will stick'.

I used to think that. But he was right about Welnix's approach to SWS (although he was wrong about it being a merger); and didn't he correctly pick Rudan to be on his way out?

I'm glad to read the speculation about Welnix being in the interview phase already of signing a coach, the earlier the better. An improvement on last season's recruitment process.

As a current big club A  League assistant, sounds a bit more promising than that JP dude that rumours reckon we virtually signed last year before the pitch invasion fiasco.

We escaped that one by a mere skin of our teeth, if some of the posters (at that time) are to be believed.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Dear Nix
I suddenly, and unexpectedly, have a gap in my busy coaching schedule and would welcome the chance to take charge at your wonderful club and unleash its true potential.
Please don't believe the media stories about my recent experiences in the MLS. When I come down for the I/V I'll bring along a comprehensive PowerPoint presentation which can explain everything.

Well played Nix.

We don't have to spend the next 3 months angsting about how no coach means we can't sign players.

Now fate is in his hands.

We’ve got players signed past the end of next season.

Allegedly

Brilliant. Now we just need a full licence and players signing to decent length deals.
