We are a week and a bit away from it essentially taking a quarter of a year to get a coach

None of these clubs have been through constant shower of shark from FFA and their handmaiden, FOX, as we have.

And all of those clubs at some stage have required an FFA bail out - unlike the Phoenix. But why let facts get in the way of a good story eh Australia. Next up Pharlap....

... don't forget salary cap breachers and recipients of FFA funded marquees

So Wanderers have signed a young, promising manager who played for Liverpool for four years with 51 German caps, four Bundesligas, the 1996 Euros and tons of Bundesliga managerial experience. All this and they sacked Gombau probably a month after we sacked Darije. Reaffirms my belief that we're by far the least ambitious team in the league, this is actually depressing

CCM are openly spending the salary cap floor. Think they easily take that particular title.

*gives myself a warning about going off topic*

we were the first to get rid of our coach, last to replace him. Owners have implied we won't be using marquees, or spending any money really. 2 years left. What the fu ck are they doing. I know parts of this are unreasonable and it's very difficult to run a club, especially ours, I'm just exasperated and running out of fight with this

Interesting discussion on the latest podcast (up now if you haven't listened), about the search for a new coach. And how the club wants a 'Big Sam' kind of guy. A coach with a bit of fire in his belly, and who can come in and quickly turn around an underperforming team, like Sam did with Everton this year.

Turn the team around, or grind out results? Not mutually exclusive, but not very attractive either. Though I suppose any team that makes the finals would get some people on the bandwagon.

We already missed out on Popovic, who I think could've done this.

Is Gombau this kind of coach? He hasn't got a club at the moment, so I understand, so could he be back in the mix?

I've coached some terrible players and you end up teaching them crap that any old coach could teach

Certainly under Merrick Newcastle had several players playing to their maximum potential (Nabbout, Jason Hoffman and Petratos to name three). The young guys at the Nix have mostly been good the last season or so but it's the ones who haven't quite played as well as they could have that would benefit from having a coach that just 'works' for the team I guess.

When Terry went under, weren't there unpaid players?

Don't agree. Our circumstances are far different and much more challenging. Even CCM gets a free ride compared to us.

Also, average points per game has to be a better measure anyway.

Has FFA disclosed full 2018/19 rule, specifications and appendix’s to cover the result

84 days soon to be 85. Will Management make the Smart decision and announce on Day 86 (Friday) along with rumoured NZF announcements or will we do the full ninety?

Ah, right, forgot about that. And just read the Stuff article on the AW's new conditioning coach. It mentions Paul Gothard who's stepping down as goalkeeping coach. Would he fit the Nix this season? He's keen to go back to working with a club.

The Aussie GK coach stayed when DK left, so I assume he is happy to keep working here?

Hope we are not trying to emulate Arsenal. I am going to be long retired if it takes as many years as it does to replace Wenger :-)

On the other hand, maybe the Nix are grooming Singh or Cacace for a coaching gig?

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days
