When you look at that list I expect the following will happen regardless of my own prejudices. When you consider that the status of Krishna has not been cleared up and we have to drop an import, I really think Cunningham will be goneski. If Krishna is a local, I think we can probably find a better striker for that import spot (not that we have had success thus far) Really does not leave us a lot of room next year I guess.

Squad spot free. I do wonder if he saw that Shermy had kinda moved a head of him and then went 'fuck it, I'd rather be home in Aussie'

Also Doyle came straight into the squad as a starting fullback too

I had high hopes for Caira when he came here. I'm sure he will get picked up by someone else at some point in time.

A shame. Don't see how Doyle is any better than him, apart form being a kiwi. But he prob isn't needed now and reckon he will find another gig back home

I would think he probably has somewhere lined up. If I had to guess, he will end up at City

I just don't think Caira had much of a defensive presence, what Manny lacks in size and build he makes up with tenacity. Caira never really showed that and was easily muscled off the ball which is a worry for a fullback. In my eyes it's like basically playing a less creative Jason Hicks at left back. I don't mean to *zing* the guy, some of the best fullbacks in the world are smaller but in this scenario it's probably best he gets game time somewhere else.

I think Doyle does have that extra presence, can go more foot to foot with wingers. I'm not saying Tom is my favourite fullback in the league but from what i've seen, he seems the better all round fit above JBS and Caira.

Doyle has already cost a goal . Caira never did . Has always played midfield even his 2 games with WSW he played midfield not at fullback

Didn't we convert him to a full back?

i like Reece. Shame to see him go. I wish him all the best.

I have an amazing ability to find my way out of mazes. I'm pathological.

History re-written. The first 5-6 games last year he was not flash and Muscat was moved into his role cause he was pants at it. He played a further couple of games as left half because he could not cut it at LB and that was it. People were lamenting that they wished Lochhead was still there. Ordinary. Was not taking the Phoenix forward and was probably tagged for the ressies hence he thought fuck it. Absolutely no issue with this move and it gives us flexibility in spots, a bit of cash freed up and another player in the ressies.

I think he was signed as an attacking fullback.  Unfortunately he didn't contribute much as an attacking player which he needed to do when he wasn't great defensively.  Just didn't quite work out for him here, makes sense to me to let him go

I thought he was a central mid who we converted to a fullback?

When we signed him, we said that he is able to play both LB & CM. Talk from Aussie was that CM was his better position but we signed him as a LB.

Touche. However Doyle has less 'hmm that does not look good' moments than Caira

Caira had had a full season as a pro including games for the table topping WSW.

I thought Caira, a player with more experience than Doyle, looked far less confident in his abilities than Doyle does right now. If Caira made that same mistake as Doyle, I seriously doubt he would've come back from it as strongly. That is his problem, for mine.

I agree and Ernie said much the same. 'Bulletproof' mentality.

You have to hand it to the kid, he has not shrunk or fallen apart like some others may have. I know at one point, Lochhead was having a crisis of confidence and it showed. For this guy, it seems to be water off ducks back. I look at the Phoenix and from the outside, they seem to have a very nurturing culture towards the younger/less experienced players but on game day, you step up or you have the Siggy hairdryer treatment.

Whats Doyles age? 20?

Does it really matter if Caira was LB that could play DM or a DM that could play LB? He was solid and could do a job but dropped down Ernie's pecking order.

Hats off to the kid for wanting to play football rather than sit around collecting a paycheck. Plenty of other players would be content with doing that. I hope he can find somewhere that he is able to give being a professional footballer a good crack.

Bosnich mentioned that at half time of the Sydney derby...said Doyle bounced back very well after the shocker. Can only bode well fo rthe future. Would have been great for his confidence that we scored off his cross too.

All i was pointing out is that caira had very little difference at aleague level than doyle. It was a steep learning curve for both . The fact caira was turned into a fullback when doyle is a natural fullback makes me think it was harder for caira . Just my view . Also doyle is 22 . 6 months older than caira
