Brockie on the move?

LUCKY Ernie Merrick is a tad grey already, for the prospect of losing gun striker Jeremy Brockie is a real one for the Phoenix boss. Brockie has a lucrative offer in Malaysia on the table and is weighing up seeking a January move.

Don't want to be mean, but I do hope he takes the offer.

I guess the offer is not based on a pay per goals basis

20 goals in 46 appearances for us isn't bad. Especially when playing in a side that has finished last and 2nd to last in those seasons.

Tyler Boyd? The player with 2 goals in 43 appearances?

I very much doubt Boyd has 43 A-League appearances? Of course, most of his appearances have been from the bench. If we look at last season, his 'goals per minute' were probably similar to Brockie. Though I don't think we should be making Boyd our regular starting striker.

Might be a bit far from the grandparents for a young dad? Hopefully he'll start knocking a few in and there'll be a bit more interchanging with the front three as I think he has a good cross and can drift in from out wide, does a good number on a back post header and is genuinely good in the air when he's on

yeah I should probably think before regurgitating Wikipedia stats. It's probably more like 20.

Last year...

Boyd. 2 goals. 775 minutes: 1 every 387 mins
Brockie. 5 goals. 1532 minutes: 1 every 306 mins.

Or, he wants to get away from parents and in-laws because they're always around now he's got a kid?

You were right.  Loads of appearances, not many minutes

Overall, here are the figures for Brockie and Boyd:

Jeremy Brockie

Played: 51

Minutes: 3,889 (averaging 76 minutes per match)

Starts: 43

Subbed Off: 11

Subbed on: 8 (197 minutes played as a sub, averaging 24.6 minutes per match)

Goals: 21

Assists: 9

Tyler Boyd

Played: 44

Minutes: 1,600 (averaging 36 minutes per match)

Starts: 16

Subbed Off: 12

Subbed on: 28 (494 minutes played as a sub, averaging 17.6 minutes per match)

Goals: 2

Assists: 4

Boyd may have just 7 fewer appearances than Brockie but Boyd averages 40 minutes less per match. Plus you could argue that coming on as a sub means it's harder to score, especially when we've been losing by the time subs were made most of the time in the last two seasons.

so Brockie has played roughly 2.5 times more minutes than Boyd. Taking that into account: 2.5 x 2 = 5 goals vs Brockies 21 goals.

Despite all of the above I really wouldn't be crying if Brockie left us. Would we get a transfer fee out of it?

Last year of his contract? Can't imagine we would get much - plus I doubt we would stand in the way of one of our players getting a big pay day.

Who'd replace him though?  Would have to be an Aussie or Kiwi.

Keen!!

There is always the guest spot... Or release Krishna until he is naturalised (he will be naturalised right?) and sign an import.striker.

But man wouldn't it be great if we got him back for dash into the finals!

Edit: Doesn't sound like he is doing to well in Germany... Haven't read his thread for ages, didn't sound too good, lots of sitting.

He only left because Ricki wasn't giving him game time. Always looked like he was going to score on the few occassions he was played. And at least he has the confidence to have a go and not gun shy.

So the rumours are swirling that players are not happy at the nix at the moment, that they aren't being played because they don't have contracts, and that players want to leave.

The rumour is that Boyd didn't sign a new contract and therefore has been left out of the squad.

The rumour is that Kenny is looking for a new club, which is fair enough if he's left out of the first team squad and explains why he disinterested while playing for the reserves.

Caira has already left.

Roly has intimated that he will head back to Europe when his contract is up here.

It's appeared on a couple of forums that I have seen, someone on 442 said that they talked to the nix players after the match and they are not a happy group. Which seems at odds with what players like Burns and Durante have been saying.

It could very well be as simple as the fact that players who were used to regular game time last year now are not happy that they can't even make the bench, which is fair enough.

Seems very unlike the nix though, who give the impression of being a pretty close knit squad and have been said to be one of the more pro-active clubs when it comes to player welfare so something is odd.

what makes a player unhappy is being blackmailed into signing a new deal and being told you will not feature in a match day squad until you do .

people are believing this because 442 forums said so...?

With Boyd and Cunningham I think it's more possible they're not playing because we've recruited better players in their position. No player would be happy with being left out of a squad - if be worried if they weren't. And of course the players weren't happy after a match they just lost 2-0.

Well the CCM ownership issues with entity a and b were first brought up in the Sydney Forum and then 442 before it was talked about on the CCM forum or here and everyone rubbished that back then.

Are you seriously trying to tell me after watching Krishna last night, that you still believe he is a better option off the bench than Boyd? And yes I know that Boyd is not-a-striker, but neither is anyone in our squad including Krishna.

He's the only A-League player to score at the club world cup...

I've been calling for Krishna to be given a chance, thinking that we must have signed him for so many seasons for a reason + Eernies positive comments about him in the pre-season. But apart from that game against the heart he has not made the impact that we would have expected.

Brockie is also rumoured to be looking at a move to Malaysia.

Kenny walked out of a training because he was dropped to the reserves.

You wouldn't expect to keep Roly around. I think he was just here for the life experience more than anything.

Getting rid of Brockie probably makes sense because he would be on big money for what he is delivering. There is no way Muscat would want to let Barbarouses go though. Maybe MV will be salary cap contained at some point and have to let him go? If Brockie goes there aren't too many options floating around.
