Contracted Players - Return of the Long Pins

I have only lived in Wellington out of those cities mentioned and the only conclusion I have is that we have the wind, the rain and the Phoenix, oh Wellington is wonderful.

Auckland is as rainy as Wellington, but it's a warm, downwards rain as opposed to a freezing, horizontal rain.

This is one of the most moronic discussions.

What has Auckland go to do with anything? We're talking about atracting A-League players not ASP Premiership players.

Anyway you presume I love Wellington, must be based on the fact that I like Brisbane less than Wellington,

Kinda enjoyed Brisbane. Just the 20 degree sunny days in the middle of winter after most of my life in the NZ rain. Oh and pies that come with mushy peas. 

Have yet to even visit Sydney or Melbourne. Should really rectify that. and Dunedin and Fiordland. 

Coming from the UK, I think Wellington is great. So, it's hard to predict what some foreigners will think of the place. Granted, most Aussies probably prefer places in Aussie if they had to choose but the likes of Durante have settled here.

Ifill and Greenacre obviously big fans too. Surely another couple of guys like that out there who want to escape the dreary UK that we could snap up?

Or the dreary Irish Republic, for that matter. I'm sure there are more where Andy Keogh came from.

That late run he did on Sunday night was awesome and deserved a goal.

Kenny seemed to enjoy his time in Wellington at least.

Did his job (you can argue to what degree of expectation that it was successful or not) kept his nose clean, said the right things, honoured his contract. 

I wish him well for the future.

Yep, did well for the club when asked. Good luck to him. Unfortunatley never completely seemed to fit our system.

I think the unfortunate thing was he wasn't very good

Kenny might have had a Latin American temperament, but he rated only 400 milliPavs (1 Pav being the craziness needed to break your arm at training doing a bicycle kick).

Bugger. Really hoped he would change his mind. 

I think he's like to stay but at some point he would have to way up a Phoenix offer (if there is one) that will be at best 1/3rd of what he can probably get in SA.

I don't understand how South Africa can offer more money when their league is seemingly such lower quality.

To be fair we didn't see him much in his preferred position. He scored some good goals, ignited some games, and was commited defensively.

Sure but if they have more money then shouldn't their league be better than ours?

There is more money in French rugby. Is there competition better than the Super 15?

And that's why Saudi Arabia has the best league in the world.

I don't think that is fair comparison because Super Rugby currently only has 5 teams from each country. Obviously I don't expect a perfect correlation between money and quality of a league. I do expect a hgiher relationship than we currently see.
