We have another striker.  He fizzed at Sydney but went well in the lower leagues.

Ernie wouldn't have signed him if he was rubbish, give the lad a chance and welcome him to the Nix!!

Impressive first post!

Powell sounds capable, but won't get much of a look if they sign two top strikers like they aiming for

Yeah...unless it happens super late. We'll need some luck to sign anyone. Lucky the A-League has a crazy long pre-season, I guess.

Wouldn't be surprised if Powell ended up being our first choice.

When did Roly sign?

Turns out we have 3 days to match that.

Announced 25 July 2014 - almost a year ago to the day.

The worrying thing is the lack of rumors, a few people on here definitely have in's with the club and rumors have circulated before. The only info we have is that the club knew that Burns was going and has been on the hunt for a replacement for a while, and that Powell is not our number one.

Perhaps after the McGlinchey debacle last year everyone is being espeacially secretive. I hope we are in the final negotiations, etc.

I would like to go past the first round of the FFA cup this year.

yes. The Forums were awash with Rumors of us signing a Dutch Player from The Ajax academy  thus time last year.

Honestly, whilst it's nice to hear the rumours, I like it better when I don't. Shows that the club are dealing with things completely professionally. As opposed to hearing about the likes of Joel Porter signing for us, just before he changes his mind and accepts a better offer from Jabba the Hutt.

Funny how gutted we were about missing out on Joel Porter and that fat dutch bloke.

We did not miss out at all on Joel Porter when you think about it...

Yeah actually, come to think of it, those exciting rumours weren't that exciting at all when you start mentioning the names Porter, Richters, Bambang, Toto, de Campos ...

Rigters? Yeah good thing Terry was broke at the time and we couldn't afford to offer him what he wanted.

I'm more concerned with how many players it seems will be playing in unfamiliar positions if we stick with 3-5-2, unless there are a significant amount of starting-quality signings in the pipeline.

You know we belong together...

I get the sense we have a core eleven or so and then a big gap to a lot of kids, some with potential; and others, well, just kids really. Who knows, maybe the strategy is for Ernie to do a CCM - play a lot of kids to put "A league experience" on their CV and sell them on to overseas clubs.

Kotahitanga. We are one.

To be fair, everyone that saw him play down in Dunners wanted him.

You think two more strikers on the way? Do we need 5 strikers all up? I would think one more and any serious injuries that's what the injury replacement player option is for.

I tend to agree with this, although I saw the advantage of Joel as a plan B last season (brief as it was)

yep different system, coach etc. not saying we shouldn't have let him go, just that leggy said he did not do it for us - which is obviously untrue.

Bit of a stretch relying on Krishna and Powell, i'd say. Teams know what Krishna is about now so it will be harder for him this season, and Powell looks more like a goal poacher.

Maybe not just a poacher. This is a bit of alright. But yeah, i'd like to think he'd be our 4th choice striker.
