Should Sail be on this list?

Yes, but the length of his contact is currently unknown.

Sail was originally signed to a WeeNix deal but others have said its a senior deal. We get 23 Senior deals & 3 WeeNix deals.

Should Sail be on this list?

No, he signed a WeeNix deal. Ernie is quoted as saying he's not going to sign the full 23 squad right now, so he has his options open later in the season. Gulley brings the squad size to 22.

Ernie may feel Dimairo needs a bit more time. Also been playing him on the left and he wanted a right sided player.

Isn't DiMairo naturally a right footed/sided player?

Yes.  And has played on the right in preseason, notably the FFA game against Melbourne City, where according to Ernie he was "terrific".  Disappointing, although maybe he has to bide his time like Gulley obviously has.

Ah ok I only saw him at the Weka Park game where he was played on the left.

Ok so do we know if the two youth players signed the other day have Wee Nix or Adult deals (And what the actual difference is other than age)?? Or are we just assuming they were signed on Senior deals as it was announced they had signed pro contracts (Only asking after the confusion of Sail etc.)

They have senior contracts. Sail has a 2 year WeeNix contract.

He would have been signed earlier but Phoenix held back until niggles were cleared up.

Okay, I'm dumb. The WeeNix are the reserves; the WeeNix NYL team will be U17; so where does that leave the Wellington Utd prems?

One year deal.

Is he really only 1.74m (5 foot seven) tall? (Got this info from

http://www.transfermarkt.com/justin-gulley/profil/spieler/166049 )

Average height for males in NZ is 1.77m mate.

(I am defending him because I am bang on average height also)

Anyway, not really the experienced CB cover I was hoping for..

Also, 1.74m is just under 5ft 9" (5ft 8.5" to be more precise). Google is converting feet into decimal placings - which I'm not sure is the right thing to do as anyone who use feet as a measurement would list it at feet and inches.

It'll ony effect the UK & US.  Most young Brits are confident in metric anyway, so it will only mess up the backwards USA.

In the winter. Most of those players would "transfer" for ASBP one would assume.

Incorrect. Sail also has a senior contract now. Was moved from WeeNix contract to senior contract when FFA upped the amount of money we could spend on our homegrown players.

That would make our squad full at 23 and no chance at signing a player in January, as Ernie has alluded he may want too. If we have one spot left, one of the players must be on the +3 youth spots.

Youth spots and WeeNix spots are different. One is in the A-League squad one is in the WeeNix only and would need to sign injury replacement contract to play aleague.

Home grown allowance can only be spread over 3 players and we have more than 3 eligible for it without Sail. So adding a 3rd keeper to the senior roster to use it seems really strange.

Danaskos could be on a mature age rookie, that might leave us another roster spot but no confirmation about his status.

So im so confused now, Are 3 of our players classed as the 3 youth players allowed in A league so we have a squad of 23 when we are allowed 26 (23 + 3Y)??

Can we get a straight answer pretty please!

That doesn't make any sense. Merrick has explicitly said he's not going to sign a full 23 squad so as to keep a spot open for the January window.

Because he's homegrown he doesn't take up a space in the squad under new rules.
