Not a bad looking team, but i'd like to see Keat and Boxall in there. They will form a strong part of the future All White teams in my mind.
Hard to see Daniel fitting into there, but as an imoact player, maybe he could do something from the bench. His work rate has improved from when he first arrived.

You are probably right Paul
What position does Keat play? I think Boxall has a future at the CB for us. Boyens scares me a lot. I think Boxall has a bit more football skill that SigmUnd but none of his tenacity. Was I imagining it or did I read something about 2-3 weeks ago about some guy with a possible Kiwi link that might be a CB that was decent.
Back to Daniel I think it depends on where you view the All Whites cycle to how useful Daniel is. Ricki has said he needs to start developing the next tier for Brazil so that really does rule out Daniel when you look at the possible players that Ricki would want to give game time to in the white shirt to see if they can play. If he views it as just 'f**k it, we need to get to Brazil, I'm taking the best and damn the future' then yes, I think he plays a role. Its is probably a bit irresponsible to not develop the future and its not necessarily his brief either (u17, u20, Olys) but going to Brazil buys NZF so much if we get a major windfall 4 years in a row. That gives us the power to really develop our game. Again though looking at the current team, we are not short on experience and we do have a nice blend or youth vs age.

Another assist to Daniel, AND a game winning assist at that too! Thank goodness The Donkey got on the end of it!

I am pretty sure Daniel won't snob the supporters for his 100th match the way The Donkey did.
The home game on the 29th is set to be Daniel's 100th match for the Nix, assuming Ricki doesn't freeze him out against the Jest.
I think we should stck the Fever zone with Brazilian Flags as a tribue. Who has one?

There appears to be some debate about whether he has now played 98 or 99 games. Researching this... This page suggests Gold Coast was 99.
So if the 29th is his 101st game, then I say we still do it, as his first home game after his 100th...

Just spoke to the Cultural Section of the Embassy of Brazil. My contact there is going to see what they can do about:
1. Loaning us some Brazillian flags for the game.
2. Loaning us a couple of LARGE Brazillian flags for the game.
Hopefully it works out.
When they call me back I am going to see if the Embassy staff are planning on attending the game...

Just a heads up, national flags are banned by the FFA, so it depends on whether security do their jobs properly or not as to whether the flags get confiscated or not.

Hmmm.
Sounds like we might need to contact the club, and try and get an exemption from the FFA. As I understand it national flags were banned to try and stamp out the ethnic/nationalist rivalries from the NSL days. Perhaps a celebration of a Brazillian's 100th game might be allowed?
Double Hmmm.
Tried ringing the club. The listed number on www.whitepages.co.nz is disconnected.
Anyone know how to contact the club?
Will try the website...

As an extention of this there is someone in the Security crew at the stadium who have read the FFA rule book and are adhering to it by the letter of the law.
I will talk to DOmey about it. We were going to run the big yellow banner out with Yellow Fever on it pre-game as well which might need to be considered (probably need any flags in front (probably do anyway for effect).
Also, we're likely to be doing something to encourage attendance at the 13:00 Team Wellington game at Newtown so bung that in your diaries.

Not all National flags are banned.
Flags of the countries of the teams taking part in the game (Australia, and when the Nix are playing, New Zealand) are okay. But yes, other national flags are banned.
I have emailed the club to ask if we can get an exemption for Brazilian flags for the 29th to celebrate Daniel's 100 games. (On the basis that, to my knowledge, there has never been any Brazilian vs. any other nationality ethnic tension in the league)...
Will see what they say.

OHHHHHHHHH DADDIO!!!!!
I just got an email saying the club ha just got the okay from the FFA to allow Brazilian flags into the game on the 29th as a tribute to Daniel!
Fan-bloody-tastic!!! IT'S APPROVED!
Final details of arrangments for the day yet to be finalised, but likely to involve people with Brazilian flags needing to get to the ground early to get them checked through security (similar to how the Yellow Army flags need to get through the gate to the right hand side of the entrance I imagine...)
I will talk to my contact at the Brasilian Embassy tomorrow to sort out picking up the four they have. I also have a 5th one being sent down from Auckland... and it's signed by Gustavo Kuerten.
BOO-YAH!!!
Big thankyous to Hard News and David at the Phoenix for their help in getting FFA approval for this, and to Karina at the Cultural Section of the Brasilian Embassy for organising the 4 flags for me.
PM me if you have a Brasilian flag and can bring it, or loan it to me, for the game against the Heart on the 29th. Let's get as many Brazilian flags as we can find along to the game for Daniel's 100th game celebnration!
