For the record I would just like to say that I am extremely jealous of anyone who is going to the game. You lucky lucky b*st*rds.

I lobbied Ricki to bring more games down to Dunedin and otagofan said he should get one of the All White qualifiers down here. Ricki (and the players) are GENUINELY amazed at the venue

AWs I could live with (alternate games between Wgtn - the home of football- and other parts of NZ or Greater Wgtn as it should be called).

However while it's great to see you Southerners out in force, it is the Wellington Nix (not the Greater Wgtn Nix).

It's another discussion (that's been done to death) but I stand by what I've said previously - IMO there is a place for taking one or two regular season fixtures on the road. Good for the club, good for the country (given that it's the only NZ team it's the one that most NZers support when it comes to the A-League), and only a little bad for the Wellington based core supporters (the importance of whom cannot be underestimated). It's a compromise and you won't ever please everyone but given that there is potential for away from home home fixtures to generate important income for the club I think the value of that can't be underestimated when the owner does have some financial issues. Oh wait that's only a conspiracy right?

P.S. I re-read what I wrote and when I said "bring more games to Dunedin" I wasn't suggesting (for example) playing 3 regular season games here. One of the travelling home fixtures in the season was all I meant - the plural referring to 2011/2012, 2012/2013, etc.

A distinct possibility, depends how much chocolate the kids consume at Cadburyworld

(not me of course - I think I'm allergic to it. If I eat a load of it my stomach swells up!)

With all due respect, NHS is not an awful venue for watching football - it is one of few decent rectangle venues this country has got. It's just in difficult place for most Aucklanders to get to. Forsyth Barr does look a better venue ,of course, and I'm really looking forward to checking out for myself! Bring on Saturday!

Surely you're havin' a laff. Whats so difficult about going to North Harbour?

Compared to other cities, where stadiums are walking distance from the CBD and/or numerous public transport systems run straight to the gates, it is. I make the effort, but for many it's a pain in the arse to get to.

I'll be there in spirits KH ($195 x 4 + accom + tickets + food = don't even ask for permission)

Sounds like a really bad allergy  - although I'm sure your mariachi tash would stop a lot of the chocolate from entering your digestive system.

Strangely I am allergic to alcohol - I tend to throw up a lot (it is a feeble excuse to hidemy bulimia).

Bloody brilliant. There are 3 busloads coming from Invercargill and I just invited each bus along to the Longroom - the respective bus captains seemed keen!

I'm looking at being on George Street to hand them on on Saturday morning. Anyone willing to help do the same at any time that suits you?

Just bought my YF Southern Chapter t shirt from Otago Sports Depot!

A couple of young Brisbane players were in there too- feeling the cold and buying gloves, but said they loved the stadium.

I tried to get them to buy a t-shirt, but they were no so keen- but are looking forward to the big crowd - 10,000 plus.

Excellent!

I practically cracked one the first time i saw the stadium up close a few months ago. She is simply made  for football ( positively gagging for it, the dirty bitch), but didn't think  I'd get to see my beloved Nix playing here so soon!

Good clip on the TV3 news about the game. The stadium is absolutely awesome. One factor that might come in to play is the pitch. Tim Brown said it was very hard plus you could see on the clip the mower looked like it was giving the grass a close shave. Will make accurate passing a must.....the ball will just run and run. Could upset the Roar's close passing game if they struggle to adjust.....mind you the Brissy pitches tend to be hard and fast.

You can't tell if that's the case looking from a distance but you are right about the hard surface - it will create a fast roll.

Fuck this stupid game

Yes Skilled is a joke. Have been there only to find the away bay full of kids for 1/2 time games.

Ahmad, you are a star! I am looking forward to meeting you tomorrow.

You inspired me to try and drum up some last minute support. This afternoon I persuaded a friend (who works for a graduate employment website - GradConnection) to spread the word to the Otago Student Union and the Otago Commerce Society.

Kilmarnock FC - Scottish Premier League Champions 1965!
