In terms of pubs, one big problem with the new stadium is the lack of nearby pubs. The cook is about a 15 minute walk, the Baaa sports bar is IMO the pick of them, about a 20 minute walk.

In terms of a sports bar, especially if your sorting out buses, imho, can't go past the terrace bar in the octagon http://www.theterracebar.co.nz/ or if your looking a bit less classy and a bit closer the Baa, http://www.thebaaa.co.nz/?page=home although thats not big and full of students. I'd go Terrace.

I might be able to jack up "the long room", which is Otago Crickets function room at University Oval. It's right over the road from the stadium so ideal in terms of location. Good bar prices. Not a pub though so we'd have to make our own atmosphere. If there is enough support I'll make further enquiries. Who's keen?

Got a flat of 5 down here. Will all be attending, cannot wait. CLosest bars would be Starters Bar or Mars Bar, about 5 min walk. BUt possibly not the ideal locations. The Cricket club would be top notch I reckon
