Don't worry AJ13, if I was a ladyboy you'd be one of my faves.

Eh?  You're having trouble knowing which one is a cock a few posts up and you're worried about me???
That's real Alanis Morissette right there that is (and by that I mean metaphorically)

Heard Greenie on the radio this morning definitely rule himself out of the Head Coaches role.

Ooh - so he might be available for a Junior Combined Grade 13 team then?

As long as he can get a can of coke and a Genuine Fritzs' Weiner for every game.

Chris Milicich has put his hat into the ring.  (he confirmed on Telf and Sam Malcolmson's football hour show)

Ill put my hat in the ring. I haven't applied, and have no coaching experience, but if they were to approach me, I'd say yes.

Milicich should've pulled his hat over Telfer's eyes then beaten him to a pulp with a big shovel

Apparently I'm apathetic, but I couldn't care less.

Can't see Milicich getting anywhere near it but if we had a NYL side yes.

I'm interested to know why Hard News is so anti-Millicich but I for one am not surprised to hear our NZ U20 coach has applied for the job. For him the only step up in New Zealand is either the All Whites or the Phoenix..

Permalink Permalink

I'm not wholly anti him.  Been impressed with some of what he has done with the current U20 side however the previous side played some pretty disappointing football.

Don't think he's the man for the Phoenix side.

Yeah, not surprised he applied but will be slightly under-whelmed if he gets the job.

I also think we should be weary of NT coaches - as those do a different job from club coaches (unless they have both jobs at the same time, but that's not very common, right?????!!!). In  short, would I want Ange to coach the AW's? Probably not, cause it would take him 10 years to implement the playing style he wants.

I think a former A-League coach or MLS (or similar) would be our best option. Ideally we want to hit the ground running next season [enouth with all the 'rebuilding' crap] and a coach like that would certainly give us more of a chance methinks.

The whole it would take ange AGES implement his style is retarded. it simply wouldn't. we have the players to play his style of play. nzf should be offering him $$$

Permalink Permalink

It took Ange a whole preseason and 4-5 rounds of the A-League for him to get the Victory playing the way he wanted them to. It would be much harder for him to do it when he would only get up to 7 days at a time with the squad, so it certainly wouldn't happen immediatly like you imply tripv.

What? You mean they'd have to work on playing a certain style of play?

did i say immediately? no, no did not. am i saying it wouldn't take 10 years? yes. ange had to clean house and with NZ he wouldnt have that luxury (no depth). plus i already think we have the players there to implement his style

would you prefer the status quo patrick?

Sorry, I missed the 10 years comment in the post you were replying to. Completely agree with you though, he'll be the next Socceroos coach when FFA come to their senses and sack Holger.

It honestly wouldn't surprise me if they hired another foreign coach.  I think it would be ridiculous, but it wouldn't at all surprise me.

I seriously doubt this, especially at the international level.

You keep forgetting about all the awesome midfielders Herbert refuses to pick to play long ball!

I see that Wales manager Chris Coleman says he may well be working abroad after his contract expires in October. The former Fulham and Coventry City boss has also coached in Spain but could the Phoenix be one of those clubs to receive his CV? Would the October timing rule him out?

Coleman says he doesn't like the long fallow periods of an international manager and wants to return to regular club football. He said that'll probably be "abroad" but didn't specifically mention Europe.

PS - the source is The Guardian.

Yep. Teams from the rest of the A-League and across the best leagues in the world come a-running for David Mulligan and Aaron Clapham.
