Nix press release has Rusty with a UK based phone number. Could be a hint in that.

It means that Nix media manager Russell Grey is in the UK, which would give a rather large hint as to whence cometh our new coach.

Merrick may have won 2 titles, but he had at least 3 crap seasons.

John Matheson "exclusively" revealing that it's Merrick. Do we trust him? I guess he probably does have a source or two but I'm not fully convinced given that he got the date wrong...

If it's Merrick you will hear the laughter from this side of the ditch... also it will say a lot about the football making decisions of the new management team... hope your sake it's not...

Would be worse than the Victory's worldwide search, only to promote their assistant.

Ray Gatt at The Australian reckons it's Coppell.

One thing's for sure - Twitter is very very confused, although Merrick and Coppell seem to be the names popping up most often.

I am loathe to think its a live cross to the UK (Rusty with the UK number) purely because it makes it 1am there. Why not a 9am presser for 9pm UK time? Just seems a bit unlikely with the time zones.

So if Merrick is announced as our new gaffer does that mean that Kevin Muscunt is going to actually coach the team?

"Numerous names have been linked to the post including former Melbourne Victory coach Ernie Merrick, former Socceroo Paul Okon, Englishmen Steve Coppell, Glenn Roeder and Iain Dowie, former All White Wynton Rufer and a collection of Europeans."
I hope its a collection of Europeans.
