I too would have kept him.  He had injury problems and didn't perform well, but the Vic Uni 2nd team defense from 2007 would have performed better than our guys last year to be fair.

IMO he deservedly ended up on the scrap heap. Had an inconsistent touch and his crossing and passing were terrible. Defensively he got done time and again, but a lot of that was down to team structure.

I felt like he had a whole lot of chances to prove his worth and he did not. Simple. He was a defender who couldn't defend.

Don't want to start a crusade, but in that case we should have sacked the whole defense from last year (and several others before).

Anyway, he's gone so let's not do another Ridenton and let's move on!

If we don't end up signing a decent right back quickly, it would have been a dumb move to let him go. He was adequate. Otherwise it's Fenton and I know whom I would prefer

McGarry starting in Holland, it's odd because if we signed a starting left back from Willem II we'd be very excited!

Very odd, but it does go to show how much a coach or managers opinion of you matters in terms of getting a run or not.

But as you say, if we were offered a 21 year old starting left back froom the Dutch Premier League we'd all be jumping up and down in excitement.

Tando was hospitalised following a horrific collision playing for Perth in a friendly in Malaysia. Wishing the best for his recovery!

Jeez he's been unlucky of late hasn't he!

Hopefully it's just a precaution...best of luck to him for a quick recovery!

For it to be the most A-League news he'd have had to have signed a deal with Central Coast to play at the same time.

Pedant alert The Cup in Scotland is the Scottish Cup, the game last night was the league cup or as it's well known in Scotland the diddy cup

My bad, I just saw it was a Cup game & didn't realise it wasn't The Cup. Hopefully A-Rod did well, plenty of former AL players have turned up in Scotland atm.

Well it is the stepping stone to English League 1/2 football (as much as others here try and denigh the overall low quality of Scottish football of late).

The fact his trial is at Newcastle is a good chance for the lad.  It was Ernie that bought him to Wellington in the first place

He has his own business IIRC so he'll probably dedicate some time to that. Wow a great player he was. Tough as nails and a true winning mentality. Wish we could pluck more players like him from the Oz state leagues, you'd think Rudan would be well placed in that regard given his experience there.

There was a lot to admire about Manny Muscat, but a footballer he most certainly wasn't. Ok as a right back, but should never have been played in midfield when esp we had better local players being ignored

Yet he made the All Stars team that faced Juventus .. At his peak he was a very good A-League footballer but in the last few years of his career he did decline and became an occasional liability in defence.
