A little larger than our play unveilings!
I know that Tyler can't be blamed for what the club chooses to issue as publicity shots - but that big photo on the left, in particular, would surely illustrate any article seeking to argue that Tyler didn't fit in at WPFC because he violated the "no arrogant cocks" policy.

perhaps Tyler is just misunderstood. Taken from latest Flying Kiwis. Always a good read.
“Quick update here because Vitória have snuck in more friendly football ahead of the new season, which begins with a league cup game against the team that Boyd spent last season on loan with, and Tyler Boyd continues to start games and set up goals, assisting the first in a 4-0 win over Rio Ave. Boyd played 70 minutes and is winning over a lot of fans, not the least being club manager Luís Castro.
He had no guarantees when he came back to VSC but now looks to be a dead set in that squad for the upcoming term. Castro referred to his performance against Santa Clara as “monstrous”, having scored one and helped set up two other goals. With a contract running for two more years, this was a crucial opportunity to impress and so far so good on that account.
Now check this bad boy out, a big old profile of Tyler on Bancada.pt, in which they interview Alex Rufer amongst others to get a line on Master Boyd. Some valuable nuggets…
Alex Rufer: “He's a good friend of mine. Very down-to-earth and affectionate. I have a lot of respect for him.”
Miguel Palha: “I did not understand him very well [at first], since he was only fluent in English. It was all based on nodding his head, but he was not understanding anything of what I was saying. But even without our noticing, we would both begin to laugh in the car wherever we went.”
Joel Vieira: “He has opened himself with time. It's a shock. Fantastic person. Accessible, understanding and humble. He does not think of himself ahead of anyone else.”
Joel Vieira: “I think he plays well on both sides, but personally I like him better on the left because of the quality of the shot he has on his right foot. It's always dangerous when he cuts in on the dribble. Tyler is a smart player, with a lot of technical quality on both feet and who finishes very well. He likes to dribble and make breaks.”
If you can traverse the Google Translate barrier, or if you speak Portuguese, then it’s a bloody insightful article, actually. Really interesting to get the local perspective on his efforts from teammates of his, especially when what he does is usually framed in New Zealand (although not here, of course) in comparison to his exile from the national team. Which is something that the article addresses at the end – even down to the NZ media’s focus on that storyline. We already know that he’s focussing on establishing his club career in a notoriously brutal professional sport though it’s also added here that he’s been avoiding talking about it so as not to make headlines from the backlash… which is fair enough. Alex Rufer adds that the frustration back home is because we realise he’d be a key player if he did. And that ain’t wrong.

Always thought he was unfairly maligned on here; performed well for us when given a chance, and I was sad to see him go.

Let's knock this "exile" meme on the head. Dude isn't in the national frame because he doesn't want to be.

And it looks like he's doing quite well because he's turned down those call-ups. It's a decision many players have had to make - including guys like Nelsen - and I don't blame them at all for doing it considering how our football team is run.

Scott Galloway is also on the bench on trial.

Spotted 2 San Francisco residents here in South America the last few months, wearing All Birds. Again confirm Brown's shoes all the rage in the Bay area tech community. Kicking goals.

Seem to be very popular everywhere.

I’m sure they are but apart from Kiwis only other folks, I’ve met wearing All Birds have been coincidentally from San Fran.
I saw a Kiwi bloke fudgeing an Allbird shoe the other day. Well he said it was an Allbird in it's natural form...

Shoulda kept Galloway, skillful player.
What? No! Useless guy. Happy for him playing for Adelaide, we attack over his side, we will score.

Galloway plays like me whenever I play full-back - terrible defensively, always running as fast as possible and cutting inside a lot, which usually results in lost possession.

A-Rod on the bench for Motherwell today
Didn't get on the field though. I have james dean's 'prediction' that he'd never play in a better league ready to copy and paste as soon as he does get some game time.
I'm not sure the bottom of the Scottish Premiership counts as a 'better' league than the A-League.

It's tough to compare but I've been to quite a few Hibs games and the quality can be pretty horrific.

Personal abuse seems quite OK on this forum. Yes it's a genuine view. I thought he looked pretty good on attack, and has good ball control and skills. I out a bit of a premium on skill, ball control, vision, and passing. Other posters say he has defensive weaknesses; maybe he does but I didn't notice them.
You don't have a monopoly on the truth Mr Vader. Things aren't true just because you say so. Could I suggest you comment on the Phoenix, and not on posters to the forum?
Galloway was good at crossing and had a decent burst of speed. But tracking back and shepherding players out wide were not as good.
