I remember a season of him when he was great for us in midfield

A true fighter and destructive - in a good way

I always thought the song that had the words most closely sounding to Muscat was Lovecats.

But no song with the lyrics "You're so wonderfully, wonderfully, wonderfully pretty" could be sung about Manny.

Must have liked riding the pine behind Moss at the Nix.

Big time - always looked up to those career back up goalkeepers growing up.

The likes of Mario Ielpo who was known as "The Professor" as he was able to get a law degree since he never got a game.

Or Bogdan Lobont - about 10 years at Roma and he will have played 7-8 official games in that time...

Paracki just scored a belter for Neftçi in the Azerbaijani league, wouldn’t have minded a few of his long range shots for the Nix going in

Manny scores in the 90+1 minute to inspire a miraculous come back from Green Gully to avoid relegation in the VPL

brilliant passion in the celebration, pity it was in an empty stadium. I suppose some people will say what's the difference, but I googled it and last season they averaged just under 2,000 in attendance. This season they're averaging 1,000 per game so far. Can't be easy playing in a league like that, and in terms of lifestyle and professionalism its a far cry from the A-League. Feel sorry for Goran, he probably deserved more of a chance to impress

I imagine he gets paid lot more handsomely over there.

Tony Pignata is apparently now at Perth Glory which I had not realized.

Perth chief Tony Pignata, formerly of Sydney FC, said he'd been gathering ideas. Glory have a deal for free public transport on match days and will grow the number of 'fanbassadors' and family-friendly spaces. "We are football but we are in the entertainment business, competing for families and their spend of their entertainment dollars," he said. "We need to make sure it's memorable and enjoyable, on and off the pitch."

Mullen has been spotted training with Campbeltown City, that is the team his dad coaches. Guessing he is rehabbing his injury still, otherwise a he probably would pick up another A-League deal fairly easily.

I am at a conference at the St Kilda Novotel in Melbourne  today.  The meeting room next door was a bit noisy so we checked it out during the break and found Adelaide City team discussing tactics ahead of their FFA Cup semifinal against Bentleigh Green.   I  sought out Vinnie Lia and managed a poor quality selfie with him (I was standing under a downlight).  He was incredibly nice and wished us a good season.

Actually, getting outplayed quite a bit these days

Yeah, you'd never think Vinnie would age this much over such short time  - but that's what living away from Welly does to people :-)

Galloway with a dagger from outside the box to kick off the season. Where was that last season!

I spent a lot of money on booze, birds and fast cars. The rest I just squandered.

My favorite thread has been very quite, so here's a wee update.

Dani Sanchez lastly played for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers in NASL (2015) and then for FC Jazz in the Finnish 2nd division (2016).

Appears to have retired in 2017 although he's still only 33..

When I saw that team name, I figured they'd be some team in the USL. Finland would have been the last country I would've thought of!

no Ridenton for Newcastle tonight... not on bench, injured?

Yeah, he missed Round 4 with injury. He was named in the squad but doubt you would risk someone that is just back from a muscle strain with this pitch.

A-Rod actually got some minutes for Motherwell.

Came on the other week for 14 minutes in 3-0 win vs Aberdeen & last weekend came on at half-time in 0-2 loss vs Livingston. Didn't get off the bench in the midweek draw vs Celtic.

I see his finishing has not got any better. Another prize blooper where he fell over the ball with an open goal v Brisbane.
