We had a bit of a problem when we 1st arrived as well.  But eventually more people came and stood up and we drowned those people out who wanted to sit down.

All in all it was a good night out, pity about the result. Loved singing those songs about Auckland.

I will definitely make the trip back next year. Even though it is a long way to come on the bus from the North Shore

Well, I said before the match that my goal was to drink enough that I wouldn't mind if we lose, and for that reason my memories of the entire game apart from Iffy forcing Radelaide into an OG are kind of fuzzy. But I was charmed to make all of your acquaintances, esp. el grap, I-I-Iffy and KiwiHatter. Glad you liked the T-shirt.

Did that for the first ever Phoenix game. Was a interesting time. The guys from yesterday that sat behind us looked like they came off the bus just then as they had pillows with them :P

cheers to everyone who came to the pub - especially the non-Aklders who made the effort. Well done all. "We're singing on the train..."

I don't know how many Wellingtonians made the trip, but there were a good number of stripeys, yf ts and other nix clothes on display going up (on Friday) and coming back (today).

The amount of yellow and black at Eden Park yesterday would make the knitting circle explode many times over. And a few new season stripeys spotted at Sylvia Park this afternoon too.

Most attention was attracted by my ribald T-shirt, but I was pleased to note one forum-goer note that I am apparently "exactly what I would have imagined from your posts". I prize consistency.Doloras2011-11-21 12:34:02

Taiko was very impressively hospitable. We were the only Nix fans in there till late in the piece. Friendly, free food... Great sake. I'll be going back there
We got abused by a whole group of people in the "fever zone" who didn't like us standing up and blocking their sedentary view, so eventually had to join the YF standing in the next section. During the argument, they agreed yes they were in the fever zone, but they didn't see any relevance with standing up!!
Oh well.

That happened in ChCh too didn't it?  Has to be expected for these home and away games.

SO SO SO MUCH THIS! WOW!

I dislike Auckland but had a BLAST this weekend. Thanks to the peeps at Fox for the fun times. Thanks also to the peeps in Auckland (but only the cool ones who stood in the Zone).
Still not feeling flash. Stoked I took the day off work.

End of an era.  Vinnie - It's over.

Anybody try to fly into Wellington tis morning??

Loaded with excessive vodak and Red Bull could have been a bit embarrassing

I <3 Nix did.  We were hoping she was on the flight that turned back twice but she wasn't.

Huh?

Edit - if you're referring to the pictures you got off lightly. Need I remind you there is now a pic of me in my blanket lookin decidedly UNattractive AND now there is a pic of me holding a bub and Oska is tagged. Yeah, you got off light.I <3 Nix2011-11-21 15:31:40

Gastro tour post match report:

1. Taiko prematch beers - OUTSTANDING. Great atmosphere, great beer, great times.

2. Beer at Eden Park - APPALLING. We brought too much of the evil gaseous rubbish too through a lack of coordination as to who was doing what at half time. Really struggled through them in the second half.

3. Taiko Post match beers - Freakin' fantastic! Back in the drinkable/enjoyable zone. Some good food available but passed as we were heading to Mekong Neua for dinner.

4. Mekong Neua - Saturday night dinner. Food - off the charts (as usual there). New Zealand's best fresh spring rolls, and Thallay Ja - is there a better starter known to man? The mains were unbelievable - the 4 of us had 2 Fantastic whole snappers (1 x Larb and 1 x Chilli fried), Yum Sam Grob and the Gaeng Pee Mow (Braised Duck in whisky). Multiple Large Beer Lao bottles were just the accompanyment...

5. Then off to Foxes. I am sure I bumped into a bunch of people there. Who? Can't honestly say. The Macs Gold were slipping down, but slipping down with some difficulty later on. At the point where we relaised that conversation was no longer possible, or even desirable we decided it would sensible to retreat back to our hotel. Lordy.

6. Went to St Heliers Bay for brunch at Moretons. GOOD GRIEF - they serve the best Bruschetta IN THE WORLD. And their Big breakfast was outstanding. Their Wild Pork Sausages were something else. The coffee their was the nectar of the gods... three just about got us back on an even keel. The service was simply brilliant too.

7. The ice cream on the beach sitting under the Pohutukawa trees is to be recommended for an early afternoon recovery session.

So Auckland did itself very very proud. I am off the hook after Craig set the bar so high with Ciciolinas in St Kilda. Mekong Neua has raised the bar and it's back to him for the next away trip.

The game? Meh. Relieved it wasn't a 1 - 0 loss in the end, and the crowd was muted, sterile, but reasonably sized. Best laugh of the weekend was coming around the corner from Taiko and seeing the MASSIVE queues of Aucklanders wanting to buy tickets 20 minutes before kick off. Muppets.

Flew up on the same flight as Terry and had a chat to him as we were waiting to disembark. We was looking forward to Eden Park but estimated the result was a 50/50 proposition... knows a thing or two about the Nix does our Terry.

Flight home was unremarkable. Boy was I rooted though.

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

Agree. I have battled at work today, and Bigtobz has not made an appearance.

Great weekend, Foxes was awesome, game was a bit rubbish but it's about the whole experience.
