I remember when Yellow Fever launch parties used to involve free alchol for everyone.

All I do is make the stuff I would've liked
Reference things I wanna watch, reference girls I wanna bite
Now I'm firefly like a burning kite
And yousa fake fuck like a fleshlight

How about Saturday week (5th October) at the Ave?  There is supposed to be a credit card on the bar, so just combine the YF Season Launch with that.

back on topic, have we thought about changing the music genre in the zone?  Maybe introduce rapping instead of the usual chants....

Blap, blap

Straight out a Wellington

crazy mutha fuckers in a seizure

from a gang called yellow fever

when we're called off, we get sawed off

eat a Daniel burger and and Lochead gets boo'd off

You too, boy, if ya fuck with us

The police are gonna hafta come and get us

Off yo ass, that's how we're goin out

For the punk motherfuckers that's showin out
etc

the actual lyrics aren't really important, it just needs to start with the "blap blap"

Bump.

Interested to know the extent to which initiatives discussed here are going to be put into practice on Sunday.

For example, are we going to go to the stadium a little earlier to get a bit of pre-match atmosphere going (one of the earlier suggestions, which I thought had merit).

I know, I know, its serious!

Got a planning meeting tonight turfy.

Then will send a panda on Friday.

Preseason party with free beer was a good idea (thanks Frankie). Leaving for the stadium early is key. I'm away Sunday in Taupo sadly so won't be there to kick everyone out but I reckon I can rely on Boycie, News, 2ndBest and ElGrap to sort it out. Maybe even Feverish?

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

I know that people have already mentioned that they don't particularly like the link between alcohol and the zone (ie need to be into one to be into the other) but do we still have drink and/or food deals before the games?  People love a bargin

Just going back through some of these good suggestions.

I chatted briefly to Boycie (the Bencher boss) on Sunday about doing cheap meals earlier to get people in earlier. So I think we'll look at some sort of lunch deal, possibly with free kids meals so families are able to get involved.

Any suggestions welcome for this weekend.

Excellent Smithy.  Appreciate efforts and look forward to whatever emerges.  Happy to help out by coercing and encouraging the fever fringe. Broadening the base is good.

Cheers

It's up to us regulars to encourage others to come along but to also maintain our own loud voices too. Pleased to say I have gotten a couple of new S T holders into the fold.

From my seat in Aisle 26, I thought the Zone was fantastic yesterday. Turning up earlier looked to have worked well, just a pity they didn't turn the music off. If they can't turn the music off, maybe they could play a song the crowd can sing along with (Ring of Fire!).

Dragged along 12 first timers to the zone yesterday and they loved it. Top effort lads.

Tip for the future: bring more bear suits along. Turns out everyone loves bear suits.

Love the bear suit. That is a top quality bear suit too. You can tell it's very well made, not some manky knock-off rubbish.

So, I was absent, but can someone give me a review of the Zone's performance?

Did we get in early? Bar takings from the Bencher would suggest we didn't...

didn't get in early enough for mine, I still reckon the zone should be pumping as the casuals are coming in, I was at the stadium by 4:15 and by 4:30 the zone looked empty.......I'm stocked that you chaps get cheap beers at the benchyer but for mine the stadium needs to be full of chanting from you guys before kick off.

I don't want to hassle Patrick as he and his lady friend are probably already suitably embarrased, but Patrick, when Smithy was looking to "grow the zone"...

I thought we were pumping come kickoff time. Not sure what getting there more than half an hour early would achieve other than having a bunch of people standing around getting cold and bored (and spending a lot more on beersies).
Obviously we don't want a majority turning up just as the game kicks off, but I reckon we got it about right yesterday.

Zone was awesome Sunday. Forgot how much I dislike Tui though.

To get some of the new chants going, could we feature one everyday on facebook in the week leading up to a home game?

Permalink Permalink

The zone looked empty at 4:53pm and slowly increased. ( I just happened to be looking at my watch at that time and noticed how empty it was). Still missing a few numbers. Started off well. Went deadly quiet at the second half start and they scored. Took a good few minutes (Probably in disbeleif we conceeded so easily) to recover.
