This team, more than any other we've had in a while, really needs more competitive games - you can tell by the way they're all shouting at each other and looking slightly lost. I see some promise in the way we've played, though; Ball looks like a real fighter if we get some quality around him I could see him doing well.

We're quite clearly missing a midfielder to pass progressively from deep (Rufer and Payne are not that)

I like the look of TAHW so far. Devlin has worked hard but unsure about what he does on the ball and if he fits into this structure. He reminds me a lot of how Nichols played v Bentleigh last year.

In this structure I also feel like Libby's influence is limited. I'd almost rather see him in the middle.

Maybe bring scott on and push Libby into the midfield instead of Payne or Rufer

I'm pleasantly surprised, we look way further ahead than this time last year. Loads of guys making their debuts, got to be realistic. We've kept it tight, they got an odd goal.

Have to agree; we look confused at RB and at CM with Rufer/Payne though. They're killing us down our right side. We also look better when Waine and McCowatt stay high; as soon as they drop we lose impetus.

I want to see the away fans in the stands?

marinovic has looked a bit shaky. Waine impressive. Ball good as well

So far we're struggling to get on par with a mid table state side. Both in general play and on the scoreboard. Getting bossed for possession and chances.

Good news is we looked even worse this time last year.

Their set pieces are more dangerous than what most of ours have been over the years.

yeah I'd like to think Fenton goes straight into RB when he returns and Davila pushes Payne to the bench.

love the optimism of the commentator, if that’s a good surface I’m pleased we are not on a bad one... to be fair it’s better than some of the a league grounds

Be interesting to see what difference Ufuk can make for the second half.

Maybe time for Scott or Elliot to come on and push TAWH into the midfield instead of Rufer or Payne, his attacking has been good but defensive not so much

Their Japanese guy Omori seems pretty good; his name is so similar to Mori that I'm getting PTSD regressions to when the Kingz/Knightz used to play against Perth where Damian Mori was always guaranteed to score a goal (or several) against us.

Think Elliott would struggle more because he has no recovery pace (my biggest issue with him at FB). TAHW at least has longer strides. The big problem is Devlin, imo, he's not tracking the runners and gives up 2/3rds of the way in.

Difference between being a LB instead of a LWB; he's wasted there.

Carcace and McCowatt are not linking well either, surprising given their u20 connection.

Its not great, but its not that bad either. Marinovich was at fault for their goal. Came out to punch and missed it, otherwise hes been well positioned.

The goal he just watched it go in! and looks like a armature everytime Strikers get close.

Always makes me laugh. Months of talk about "working hard, building a team" and come the first competitive game our best players aren't even playing for whatever reasons...

Sometimes you just gotta wonder...

how are they woeful?, if it wasnt for two very good saves we'd be 2-1 up.

maybe you are the one who needs to try a bit harder?
