Can they use cup games for this sort of thing?

I thought it was a case of sent off in league game your banned for next league game.

I'm sure City would have rested him anyway.

Gotta back the boys when there's a spot in the semi's up for grabs, even if it'll be a monumental task.

Guess it will come down to how strong a lineup City will field...Getting into the quarters though, I suggest they'll likely go with a strong starting XI.

A lot will need to fall into place for us, and we'll need to leave everything out on that pitch tomorrow night but we're also up for making a bit of history too. So with that said, let's get farken fired the fark up!

So if City play this weekend he will be banded for that game I take it.

Somewhat annoying that while the world is starting to get on top of this virus via vaccination, this season the Nix may well not play a single home game unlike the last two seasons.

Is anyone aware of any other instance where a club team has played their whole season away from home in the history of footie, pro or otherwise?

I stumbled across this the other day. New Mexico United had to play all of their USL games away from home due to restrictions in the state.

The world is starting to get on top of this virus?! What world are you living in? Do you read?
New restrictions are being brought in all over the world: Germany, Netherlands, Belgium, France, Spain, Portugal, USA, Thailand, just off the top of my head.
All escept Bunter's England which has been taken over by a bunch of headcases. 90,000 infections per day! Does that sound like "getting on top of it"??

Kind of, they were out of Christchurch, but played in Nelson, so whilst not home base, they are still the ‘catchment area’ of the Crusaders and Nelson is a place they still occasionally go to.

Yep, in fact we're pretty much the only country getting on top of covid with vaccines at the moment, and we're being proactive with our boosters too.

OK.  Covid infections up (much more infectious but greatly weakened), but hospitaitsations in the UK quite low given its freezing outside right now.  All thanks to the various jabs out there so yes getting on top mortality wise.  We still have the flu running about too but no one makes much noise about that anymore it seems.

And no, I'm no covid denier, anitivaxxer or other crazy, just sick of nearly two years of being locked out of my own country like many others and seeing first hand the effects of the current wave.

And I've no time for that clown and his cronies in Westminster.

Made sure I got a flu shot after I got my Covid jab for sure. That and I don’t get sick pay to cover it if I’m off.
Was looking forward to seeing folk this year, but more variants were likely with poor international vaccination.
Omicron does seem to have fewer hospitalizations, but it’s a bugger of a way to find out and crap for the football too.

It appears that hospitilisation rates are lower for Omicron than Delta, that's good news, but it also doesn't mean we should let it in until our booster shot program has been accelerated. Remember, the government hasn't cancelled the re-opening of the border they've delayed it and at the same time announced an acceleration of booster shots.

Yipe and by end of Feb, something like 80% of folks will have been eligible for their booster shot. Plus a lot of the 5-11 age bracket will have also been vaccinated.

But there should be no more delays from start of March. By then time to ditch MIQ for returning vaccinated Kiwis plus jabbed Aussies looking to visit.

Not if Maclaren now becomes available serving his suspension in A League instead.

But I guess counter to that is Hooper may now be back in time for FFA Cup
Maclaren will be back but City are losing right back Nathanial Atkinson to Hearts in Scotland:

Seen hospitalisations and admissions to ICU in NSW close to double in the past week. They also have higher rates of vaccination (incl. booster) than NZ.

Unless your a backpacker you cant exactly up sticks and leave on a whim.

There are many personal reasons as there will be for every other kiwi stuck outside NZ including AWs etc.

I'd likely be on the dole queue if I came home as my industry aviation/tourism, is on its knees, especially in NZ, where the largest employer (Air NZ) has got rid of hundreds of staff and stopped being a major player in the industry.  Its also not a great company to work for.

Yeh I mean- to live you need a house, job and with family a bit more, schools support structures etc.
It’s not an easy task moving house in NZ outside pandemic times, let alone moving countries, schools, jobs, support networks, canceling contracts, getting all new contracts and so on during pandemic times, when a bunch of things are shakey.
Moving retirement payments. Sorting out tax issues.
It’s not something that can be done quickly or without significant cost.
Unless your folks have got a spare house or you’re on an OE and you can jack it in.
Usually in times of trouble you try and keep things as simple as possible, not add more stress. It depends if you were on a year secondment everything laid on or not. A lot of different factors.

so if coming back to NZ is so bad why are you considering it? Is it because of hpw the pandemic has been handled here? or something else?

I’m sadly not looking forward to that game. City is a different class and by the weekend performance it could be another desaster. I guess we will be still without Hooper and Piscopo. I just hope Uffi won’t play a B-Team because of the schedule, I won’t some Phoenix Women style fighting on the pitch.
