What does Dome do exactly then?  Seems he's spent months now trying to arrange one pre season friendly so whatever his job actually is, he doesn't seem very good at it.

Job is tough but well advanced. Wait for the press release. Big preseason on the cards.

Flys on the wall at DF on 6th Apr.     May chip in soon enough.

Meanwhile, our season has gone down the toilet.

Not sure you understand what Dome's job is. Do you think if entails him hovering over Ernie to give him pointers on how to make the team play better?

Wayne Scurrah offered to hand in his notice if the warriors didn't make the play offs last year. It was rejected as he has made them some coin but will be accepted this year if they don't make it. Whilst I am not saying that Dome should go, his Job description along with running the business is also to ensure we have a competitive team that is making the play offs.

Exactly what can David Dome do to improve the team's on-field employment? Put a rocket up Ernie or the players, publicly or privately? What else? As far as I'm concerned he would have had no place doing so during the season, just like Gareth didn't belong on the training pitch.

However, NOW he should be dragging Ernie and senior players into a back room and asking them to explain themselves or find new jobs.

I think you will find Domes job is administrative in player contracts, sponsorship deals, travel deals for the club and putting Ernies opinions to the board before Ernie meets with them. I dont always agree with him but he is certainly approachable and genuine guy. I like him but then thats just me I guess.

I honestly don't think we'll get a good crowd in Wellington for a game v West Ham / Newcastle if tickets are upwards of $40 or so.

Sauce is solid. Enough so that they have booked their flights and accommodation already (lifelong Hammer).

I'll confirm the date when possible for the Dunedin game.

My sauce is strong enough that I've placed a $10 hold on seats through Air NZ in the hope that these are actually right (lifeline ACFC fan).

Big Pete 65 will know (in fact I'm sure he has posted previously) - but Stoke, Newcastle and Spurs have all been over here since the 1970s (I mean if you're going to include Norwich and Watford as top British teams...)

Not forgetting the mighty  Dunfermline Athletic.

QPR played 3 games here in 1983. Perhaps not a top team but they won what is now The Championship by 14 points or thereabouts with Wolves 2nd.

Heard the same from a different source I.e. the tour company that's arranging flights. The hammers are flying into Auckland 17th July, and flying out on 27th July, so conceivably games on 20th, 23rd and 26th, giving them 3 days to "acclimatize".

Great site SK.

However 1965 Sheffield Utd playing Blackpool? Did that really happen?

Still in negotiations....if they do confirm though we could have 2 ex-hammers managers in NZ at the same time, one was sacked and the  other is about to be!

Sheff Utd v Blackpool. Certainly did. I was at Athletic Park to see it. Cant vouch for all of those games being played though. But I'd take  Scousekiwi's word for it. He knows his game.

Especially in Dunedin if that is the plan. At least make it Auckland where's so many more direct flights to those centres, not to mention the fact that it'd be more appealing for tourists in the middle of winter.
