When Manure and LFC toured Aus it was in the contract that they had to play too players for a part of the match.

Also,West Ham one of teams least affected by WC.

Dome and crew trying to tie up commercial side before overdue announcement takes place. Massive financial risk so need to have all their bases covered. Obviously taking longer than expected

Veitch interviewing Piney and Chotey just said he's heard the Nix v Hammers in Aucks midweek followed by a weekend dbl header at the RoF, Roar v Hammers and Nix v Everton.

Fair suck of the old sellout! Wow!

Well done David.

All comes down to pricing but if it's anything up to $50 they'd have to go close.

Those games would be good.

I'll believe that when it's confirmed by each of the four clubs named.

We don't think the fact that the Nix currently suck donkeys through a straw will dampen the prospects of selling out the RoF?

How many people are going to see the Nix?

Three for me, and two for them.

Sounds like an excellent double header, shame Reid will be at Spurs by then. Still, I think the tickets will be about 80 to a hundy to see both games. I'll go, if the wife lets me.

Roar verses the hammers? Why wouldn't the roar want to play them in their own patch? I imagine you can choose only one game if you want to and whilst no doubt the pricing will be structured to entice people to the double game if it's a difference of 20 bucks how many will turn up? The hard core of 6k?

potentially a train smash. Surely an all whites game (minus the Phoenix players) would have been more attractive then the bloody roar?

I appreciate the usual suspects will not turn up, but a mixture of asb prem players and those overseas who give a toss and wouldn't mind being seen playing a premiership club would come.

Despite the above bloody good effort to get 2 epl teams playing the Phoenix.

I think that this is it. I doubt to many people will care who the teams are but your average Tom, Dick and Harry will come along just because they're EPL teams. Hopefully everyone will get caught up in it.

Potentially the A-League Champions v West Ham? Yep, I'd be into that. Great game for the neutral.

Must say its a bit strange if the double header was to be at Westpac. There would be a number of Aussie based Hammers & Everton fans that would travel over to see their teams, so playing it at the bigger venue would make much more sense.

Does anyone else find it utterly frustrating that our CEO is spending all his time on this and not the club?

I just get the feeling that the form of the team and the timing of this is (a little) hand in hand. What was it the FFA said after their failed WC attempt, "we took our eye off the HAL"

Does the same ring true here?

I don't think the running of the club is an issue though - is it? surely Dome's focus is on exactly this kind of thing, the marketing is up to Thundersticks and she is doing what she can within budget restraints I'm sure. The on field stuff which is grossly affecting the fan numbers etc is up to the players and Ernie.

Wellington Phoenix general manager David Dome hopes to make a definitive announcement at their last home game of the season on April 12 on whether the A-League franchise will host an English Premier League side this year.

According to the latest West Ham podcast on KUMB.com, the last two weeks in June 14 are being scheduled for an away trip.......and I don't think they mean to Rio!

How do you reckon 2 games vs West Ham and then Leicester? wouldn't it be nice to see the Nix play against 2 of our most high profile internationals with their home clubs? Not sure of the benefits of Roar v WHU at Wellington? would they be expecting a traveling crowd from Brisbane coming in for this?

Not sure about the financial logic of two EPL teams. Nix vs West Ham midweek in Auckland.....Great! followed by Nix vs West Ham in Wellington in the weekend.....excellent!  That would work. But why bring a second team?  Its bloody expensive to bring any EPL team out here....with the huge fees and big squads to fly and put up in hotels. A second team would not double the income...it might sure as hell double the cost!

Risky business IMO.

I agree with the above. It seems a bit like the guy trying his luck in the nightclub asking every girl for a one night stand in the hope one will be drunk enough to say yes. In this case there are two and he is now trying to figure out a plan to accomadate both of them which means he is probably going to run out of puff and stuff it up.

Horrendous end to the season won't exactly have people clamouring to the games either. Am sure people would like to see these EPL teams get given a decent game but we could be embarrassed if we carry on defending how we have been.

You seem to know a bit about this sort of thing?

On the flip side he could actually "accommodate both of them"...

Everton are playing in the USA late July - would they really want to play in NZ beforehand? A lot of travel.

40k at Homebush. Not great I suppose, but probably not a disaster.

Would've thought 1 game in NZ would be enough, especially considering Auckland and Wellington are both on the North Island.

Ticket's were ridiculously expensive right util 24 hours before the game, when the majority of people who went bought tickets.

That's 14 hours a day to spend on A-League then.

Not sure you understand what Dome's job is. Do you think if entails him hovering over Ernie to give him pointers on how to make the team play better?
