And Rob Morrison has been quoted (before Christmas) in the Dom Post saying it was 7,500.

Was that for all 3 games at that point though?

I went for a little walk by Hutt Rec today and took a few pics with my phone ...

Official capacity is 9000. Its pretty much always been that, Nix were toying with lowering the capacity until the team started doing awesomely and the crowds started going. They can't do anything more than 9,000 without bumping the cost of building the stadium up significantly.

I just looked it up, apparently they are installing an all weather training pitch (it wont be full size) plus all weather sprint lanes for athletics and re-locating the cricket blocks.

Its hard to see how they are gonna fit these temporary stands in!

Less than 3000 tickets left for the first game at B.Foot Kia Hutt Rec http://goo.gl/Mfn3ad. #BFKiaHuttRec

All season membership holders will get free NZbuses to and from Wellington Station.

There will be a limited free bus service taking people to Waterloo Station, Central Lower Hutt, Station Village and Petone post match.

Not Hutt Rec - but - for the Westpac game that got the 10.5k. The walkup (may be bought on the day) crowd was 2.5k.

Communication breakdown?

Advice on travelling to Hutt Rec games on Phoenix site :

"We suggest you travel by train from Wellington Station and get off at Waterloo which can handle the crowd"

Timetable of buses replace trains from TranzMetro

.

Tickets? Tickets? We talkin’ about tickets?

Long walk from Waterloo Station probably 20 to 25  minutes. Only 5 minutes from Woburn Station.

Update on Hutt Rec pitch and hospitality suite;

Pic #1 - Green grass is a rarity anywhere in Wellington; looking awesome and quite flat, good surface to play on. Fever zone on the right behind the goal on bleachers.

Pic #2 - Inside the sports bar part of Bellevue Hotel; there's also a garden bar and garden, plenty of room for kids, families and the old contingent of leaners!

Pic #3 - Ground layout direct from the grounds-man (lovely bloke). Fever zone on the right, plastic seats on opposite long side and in front of main gramdstand, bleachers at either end. Incidentally the grounds-man was saying how at the last All Blacks exhibition game, they called him out to the centre of the pitch to "fix a couple of pot-holes" and they gave him a huge round of applause. How great was that!

Lastly, the walk from Woburn station is 600m, roughly the same as walk up to Westpac. The pub is across the road from the ground.

All good....looking forward to it!

Thanks for the advice, not  a regular Wellington train user :-)

However my point was more the recommendation to take the train  and Tranz Metro operating bus replacement on match day

Ideally, this will be seen as a chance to put on buses direct to ground

Of course the trains are replaced on Gameday :P

Tranzmetro would put trains on for the Hurricanes :P (see Easter 2013 where they changed the maintenance plan)

I think I can see a loophole to allow us to build a new stadium here. The residents were concerned about the "loss of green space".

That to me looks brown, not green therefore meaning the residents arent losing anything green if we built there.

TranzMetro obviously want to provide a chance for city-dwellers to appreciate the 'experience' of taking the train to the game that many Wellingtonians have had to endure on a regular basis

Further, look at the Hutt Redc at the moment... VERY green.

So, if we built a stadium at Petone Rec, not only would they just lose brown space, not green space, they'd actually GAIN some green space, as the field would be watered and green throughout summer.

Boom!.

We could use green seats like Melbourne Rectangular Stadium, and make the grandstands green too... LOTS more green space added!

Incredible stamina. No shame. Yellow Fever.

Phoenix fans. We have to win them over one fan at a time.

look at all those people using Petone Rec in the middle of the day. We really would have deprived ALL THOSE PEOPLE the use of THEIR park if we had built a few stands and a pitch in one small section of it.

Chances of no trains because of lack of communication between Railways HQ and the maintenence section? Extreme.

The Pet Rec is brown because of all the dog turds left by the '000's of locals that walk their mutts every day. Derrrrr.

The TranzMetro website is outdated, the Nix are working with them to sort out easy transport options for people to get to the Hutt from Wellington. I'm told that the details of this will be released as soon as they are locked in, so hold tight.

wish they'd work together to make it easier for Hutt residents etc to get to wellington for games at the ring of Fire.

How much more easier does parking at railway station to get train, or just driving straight in, have to be for Hutt residents? Maybe Wellnix should develop a drone system to pick people off their front step and fly them straight to their designated seat at the stadium.

Exactly the same thing. More hutt residents come out for games at Westpac than there seem to be wellington residents willing to come out to Lower Hutt.

In fact it is a lot easier for residents from wellington to get to Lower Hutt than it is for people from Upper Hutt etc to get to Westpac stadium.

Hopefully this includes fans on the Kapiti line as well (Given their propensity to just do maintenence there anyway.
