Congrats fellas.

Not bad for a podcast done in a few football fans spare time with little or no resources!

You really know how to be offensive don't you? Well, me too.

All the good stuff we do at YF and the most you can do is whinge about insufficient discussion about a meaningless preseason friendly that your team didn't win. You obviously don't have a clue how much effort goes into all that we do. Or you don't care.

But we won't ban you. In fact we will continue to work hard to build a website that you can troll, and a podcast you can complain about, and a supporter base that your own over-funded big-fish-in-a-small-pond club can only be envious of with the self-important remnant of a fanbase that you have.

So what stops you from contacting YF and asking to do a review over the phone so it gets air time on the pod cast?

.

Here is what I hear: 'Wah wah wah its not fair about the ASBP getting no coverage. Who is going to fix it. Why aren't NZF fixing it. You lot don't support it. You're plastic fans blah blah what is everyone else going to do about it cause its not my problem. I'll just whinge and take pot shots however cause no one else supports it. You lot are fucked for not supporting it.'

.

All about problems and telling everyone else how to solve it but doing nothing yourself. They call that a busybody.

.

You know we (collective) might not be doing anything to raise the profile of the national league and are just an apathetic lot, but you know I don't see you doing anything to raise it other than throw shit in a forum. In my book, that makes you just as guilty if not worse than the rest of us. Take a look around, cause you are sitting in this forum instead of your own tumbleweed place just like the rest of us.

...hang on...

there's PLENTY of people Jeff Vader who are NOT just sitting here in this forum. There ARE people doing stuff.

I appreciate what you are saying re. FU BLU. I agree with you and second what you are saying.

I am just pointing out that one way you can read your post is that you are tarring everyone with your "We (collective) might not be doing anything" brush, when actually a number of people are doing a lot. Maybe that's not what you meant to do... but it could be read that way.

Sorry if I am being a bit pedantic.

You are :o)

At least you got what I was meaning. I was meaning 'We' as in from his point of view.

In addition to that, like you mention, there are plenty of people doing heaps for the ASBP sight unseen. You would think the way FU BLU talks about it, no one does anything and it the end of the world. Effectively, he will never be happy unless he is moaning

It also happens to be the podcast of Yellow Fever which is the supporters club of the nix, I think they do a great job with kiwi's overseas, local club comps, and the asb premiership. It's pretty well balanced if you ask me.

Here's one for you FU BLU since you are so head up your own ass about it.

Why don't you ask to get on the podcast every week and give an ASBP update from your little slice of the world. Only takes about 5 mins. If you can't be bothered doing it, then don't whinge at others about their efforts.

It beats being just a troll in a forum and you'd actually get the chance to get out your propaganda/message about how ACFC are the saviours of football in NZ.

Enjoy the interviews with opposition fans as well, a good addition.

As far as real fans go, being a westham fan he surely means someone who follows a team on the other side of the world that has little or no connection to them even though they have a local team which happens to have a 100% winning record against their lauded London based club.

To be fair to LeSinge - he has quite a big connection to West Ham. You can use that argument against a lot of Eurosnobs, but not him.

Unless he played for them or coached them, he has no better connection to them than any other person who likes to flog a dead horse......

Horseshit.

That's demonstrably not true.

There are dozens of ways someone could CLEARLY have a better connection to them than someone who likes to flog a dead horse without having played for or coached them.

You could have been a season ticket holder for a number of years, and grown up going to the club's games.

You could have volunteered and/or worked for the club as something other than a coach - physio, ticket booth staff, groundsman, usher, president of the supporters club etc.

You could have been an owner.

You could have been a sponsor.

You could have been a member of or organiser a fan supporters group

You could have run or contributed to a fan zine or blog

You could have been one of the unusual above and beyond the norm fans travelling to the clubs away games all over the country and Europe (and else where).

What a complete crock.

If FU BLU speaks how he writes, I'm not sure he'd be able to do his own podcast.

But like I say, if you don't like how we do it, or that we don't have the ability to give a detailed analysis of 4 ASBP games a week, feel free to start your own. You can pretty much do it for free. Try soundcloud or podomatic to host the file.

Interesting as I don't particularly like the segment from the opposition and have skipped past the last two in part due to the sound quality of the fan interview which has been pretty average...

It's a bloody good podcast though - you guys do a great job.

Nah, the oppo team fan segment is something I really like. It's good to get a different fan perspective on the games and club issues. Sometimes true fans have a better grasp of what's going on with their own club than the media.

Interesting to hear about the Jets ownership problems especially when remembering what happened with us. I never liked the Jets up until a few years ago when I developed a grudging admiration for them. They've got more of an identity than some of the bigger name clubs and have a genuinely loyal following. Hopefully they get the ownership issue sorted out soon.

Tough to get good audio quality. Our usual recording strategy is to use a speakerphone (shithouse) recorded on a handheld audio recorder (fine, but prone to be tinny).

So it's a bit niggly.

Only way to get top quality is to run a studio, which we can't afford. #yfspendup!

Something like this might help/be a better option than speakerphone recording?

I'm sure there's plenty of other apps that can record calls for playback which you could edit into the podcast?

This review is a year old, but highlights the problems with call recording apps: http://lifehacker.com/how-can-i-record-calls-on-my...

I haven't tried any for a while, but have in the past and they were all very poor.

If someone can recommend one that they've used and rate that'd be handy.

1] Perhaps the skype experiment might be worth having a crack at.

2] Am I wrong with this assumption coming up?

The Podcasts were done by locals (YF Exec type guys mainly) to reflect on past/present/future Phoenix games, followed by local football within the country(Including Team Wellington) (remember the chatham cup stuff), followed by All Whites stuff and then football in general stuff?

I have always felt that even though some is obviously humourous, it was actually an attempt to promote football, encouraging people to go to games or at elast take an interest. It might be done by amateurs but it it is as good as anything else out there by professionals. It is the typical Kiwi No.8 fence wire technique. And that is what makes it fun. It has heartand passion.

3] You dont have to agree with everything said on it. I know I don't but it is out there and invites discussion on threads like this. Opinions are like an arsehole, we all have one. If I win a big Lotto, Smithy, you will have your toys to improve the audio quality!

No connection to my team? 35yrs of support through thick and thin, up and down altough never below 2nd division. (Only seven other clubs never been below 2nd tier). I do love my football and still play for Petone Masters so having the Phoenix on the doorstep for me is.fantastic. No conflict of interest for me though on the NZ tour...35yrs vs 7. I do like the podcast....local flavour, undiluted and authentic. Keep it up and COYI.

I would be happy with 1 mill. But then everyone has their own definition of enough. Is 600 mill enough for sam or 500 mill enough for Doug Meyers or 200 mill enough for Gareth. 1 mill gives me an affordable house, car, debt free and a bit to spare so Smithys gear would cost what? 20k at most?

Don't need a chill pill as it is too friggen cold down here right now as i go to bed.
