First post in forum since before the crash.

Had to be in this section.

Glad you're all listening, and some of you even enjoying it.

Kudos to 2ndBest who pulls it all together.

But...to the point of the post...imagine a world where we could produce a regular video blog...a TV show on the internet if you will...if we had a blank canvas, what would you like to see us do?  How often?  How long?  What content?  What format?

Think that sums up the wisdom of the forum.

This might be a good time to take another 8 month hiatus.

Would it be in addition to the podcast? The podcast does the news/debate well, not sure adding visuals to that would add much. So maybe a focus on the fan culture would suit the medium.

I guess that the editing would take longer, so would be hard to stay current with news. But if its not news based, you could probably get enough stuff for a 15-20 mins Soccer AM style show every month.

I think it would be best cool to have regular segments. Each week you interview 1 nix player - maybe get them to all do some quirky challenge and have a TopGear esque leaderboard.

Maybe do a crossbar challenge?

Interviews around town with fans potentially - or with random questions to guage the general public's knowledge of how the nix are going.

Once the season rolls around try and get a bunch of away fans in for some banter.

Be neato if this OFC TV comes about, they may need some late night filler ;)

Shooting Stars style game show with a guest Phoenix/All White/Local Legend on each side.

Feverish doing a Wgtn Football Factories style programme.

Ideally the host should turn his phone off before recording like he is told to.

To be fair- I don't think Rory has done that bad a job for us. I don't understand the hate... I mean it was hard enough as a fan making sure you could find a working stream etc etc to watch us getting beaten up by the island nations. It must have really sucked watching the whole thing from the bench after having scored the goal that put us in the WC, and not being the worst in the lead up to it. Let's be honest, we simply haven't been scoring enough goals, and our strikers haven't been hitting great strikes, making space, or in Kosta or Marco's case they seem to beat one or even two, but then lose out trying to beat a third...

As for mouthing off in the press and trying to endear himself to the home fans- Manny made himself unavailable for Malta.

Hope I'm proved wrong about the strikers tonight.

Judging by some of the rumours, maybe sitting on the bench in the Solomons wasn't all that hard for him.

If OFC TV does take off then maybe they would support a fever tv slot.

I'd like to see the website get fixed first.

And I say that fully acknowledging the great job that you guys do.

Podcasts and video blogs are nice but the forum is still the beating heart of YF (it's more democratic and more about 2-way communication for starters).

I'm a weekly listener and...it's great!

But - someone needs to find some topics you don't all agree on.  And someone needs to start playing devils advocate even if you don't necessarily believe it.  If you all agree you may as well just read out the news...

This week's was the best because there were no puns.  What has happened to football that it is beset by puns??

I do agree with this in a way. The boys club who are all mates and share the same opinion on everything. I guess those opinions get pushed into the forums a bit but there definitely are a lot of other people on here who have complete opposite views on a number of topics.
Would be cool to call up journalists with opinions the pod disagree with and have a fair conversation maybe?

In saying that, I do enjoy the poddy and couldn't do anything better myself so can't really complain

I thought eh Danny Hay thing was really good - properly getting his side of the story in a far better way than anyone else in the media did.    Don't bother with Billy Harris - the guy is a mug

The pod celebrates 10,000 listens by chatting the Phoenix's pre-season itinerary, fever bus trips to Palmy, world cup qualifiers in Christchurch and Auckland, Women's U20 World Cup, Ian Hogg signing for Portland Timbers, the Olympics, and Central and Premier League promotion and relegation battles.

Maybe its time to start naming these with the date as the title rather than a number?

It doesn't even look like the podomatc site lists the upload date anywhere. I guess its in the url but would be easier if it was in title too

Good stuff guys - enjoyed this week.

Once the A-League starts are you planning on discussing all of the clubs results?  Personally, I think that would be the way to go so those of us not watching all of the games get a summary of the whole league - always thought that was the downside of the old pod.

Thought the discussion on Hogg got a bit mixed up.  Lots of time spent pointing out that we didn't have space in the squad when we signed a guy who plays the exact same position.

Then there was the the old chestnut that young kiwis are better off playing every week than sitting on the bench for the Phoenix.  He's 22 and surely that's a matter for him - he's the one who has to earn a living?  I'm sure he'd prefer to be paid a decent wage to play and train fulltime rather than kicking round with Auckland City, no matter how much "coaching" they can arrange for him.

No-one seemed to question whether he's actually good enough which in the end is probably why he's in the states rather than in Wellington.  I like him but in my mind he's not better than Lochhead.

Also - what happened to the Urugyan triallist and the mysterious african striker??

At 22 though he's a full squad spot, not an U21 spot.  Rowe would seem a better bet as we need to fill that U21 hole and fits the school of excellence if he doesn't.

As you say, not better than Lochhead but hope he gets a chance in the US and we have a genuine battle for left back in the AWs between an aging Lochy, Hogg and Rowe.  If one of them could play Right they would walk in to an AWs spot.

Uruguayan (Noy) was still here last time I spotted photos of training although that was a week or so ago, but his absence from the game against Lower Hutt on Thursday would suggest he may have gone since then.

Things have gone quiet on the striker rumour front.  A worrying sign.
