RR posted this elsewhere, but Figueira with his shiny new Pro Licence. Assistant role at the Nix with Greeny?

He'll likely become the NZ U19/20s coach if he stays in NZ. Was Greenacre's assistant with the U20s.

Paul Temple on that coaching course as well?

The current GK coach had never coached senior men before this season -  clearly the keepers have no confidence, and perhaps the GK coach is to blame and is next on the chopping block

Nice work.
Ex Phoenix youth / reserves coach Andy Hedge in there too, as well as a few other familiar faces.

I hope that Greenie isnt expected to be the rescuing hero that rides in and saves the day.
Because the problems with this club are stuctural and deeply rooted. Just changing the coach is only one step. The overall football management has been a disaster and the club seriously needs to look at getting a new director of football.
I was stunned to read that the reserves and academy dont align their football with the senior team. Who is in control here. Thats such
a basic principal especially in a club that is committed to bring young players through to the senior squad.
If I was Greenie I wouldnt touch the permanent role unless I was sure that the club had got its shiite together.
Otherwise in a years time he will be yet another scapegoat for the ills that haunt this club.

do you ever let up?
sounds to me like you're only coaching/management experience is from playing FIFA or FM. Plenty of reserve/academy teams play different styles to the 1st team. I'm sure some managers would prefer that their up and coming players already know the system but it's not a requirement.

Nothing wrong with his statement.

You need to get off the happy clappy train.

If a 5 nil thrashing isn’t going to make you open your eyes, then there is probably however no hope for you.

lets be very clear here, a 6th loss to your AFC was never going to be acceptable, I like most at the game was furious at the coach and the players! But none of that has anything to do with how the club is run or the ownership or management.
The attitude and performance on the field was all Italiano, his assistants and the players.
Rightly, Italiano resigned, he would have been sacked if he hadnt. Greenacre has every chance to put his own stamp on this team and plenty of time to change the on field results - nothing that is going on in the back office will have any impact ion that.
If you and your detractors think that the owners, GM and back office dont want the team to be winning then it is you who are deluded.

And I’m sure Gill and Dome want to win lotto as well.

So according to you the structure, back office and management of this club is sound (has nothing to do with the last two years of results) and it’s all over to Greenacre to pick up the baton and run to the finish line.

To use another code, he’s been thrown a hospital pass and you need to understand that. He’s going to have to bend and then do a back flip to catch it.

Otherwise deluded.

Why does anyone need to "get off the happy clappy train"?

In what way would it help things, or even improve anyone's mood?

The incentives are messed up in online discussion: being a horrible moaner and being proven wrong is much more acceptable than being optimistic and being proven wrong, therefore horrible moaners become the big guns on forums and get the attention.

This guy riling people up on a forum is not a revolution. (If it were, you'd already be living under communism.)

I certainly don't question the desire of management and get that without the owners burning their cash virtually every season we would not have a football club.  For me it is all about competence and what qualifies Gill to be a competent DOF. Would be really great for any coach to have people around him that really understand the game at a professional/elite level and I am just not convinced that the DOF or the Footballing Committee have these core competencies. Unless there is a serious shake up at that level not sure much is going to change. For what it is worth I think Greenacre is a really solid appointment and can guarantee we will see a team that is a lot more structured and organized.

it doesnt take a massive shake up to move Gill on!, if he is the problem then se ya buddy!
But then his role isnt exactly back office is it?

Maybe so but if the "back-office" can't see that there is a problem with the footballing department (coach, DOF, Football Committee etc) and fail to act, then it is on them. We will wait and see if there are any changes, but I am not holding my breath.

Surprising to hear anyone genuinely try to claim that there might be a world in which a guy who has just accepted a job on an interim basis for the fourth time might choose to decline the permanent gig.

By the way I had an idea for the TIFO on Sunday:

DEATH
TAXES
GREENIE

For me, last season was Italiano's failure. This season’s failure was the management and owner because they hired the wrong guy.

The women are going well, so saying the club is in the mire is a little closed minded.

Things should be better no doubt. But, as a club we have stable owners, a youth set up that is proven, fantastic facilities and a decent strip.

Chief staying on so long is probably a reflection of our stability as much as anything.

So both seasons the players get away without any blame because you havnt included them. Your kidding right. Yep Chief and the Management have to take a good share of the blame but NEITHER of those two cross the white line and hopefully score goals, defend make passes and any number of on field decisions that has an affect on games. Yet somehow according to you its Chief and the Managements fault.

Sad to hear his son had a bit of a downfall as a gaming/tech streamer. This guy is based on a real person at Blizzard iirc.

Sometimes a revolution is needed comrade.

Chief was a revolution. The Jets are a revolution. Ange was revolutionary. Alex Paulsen was a revolution. Us getting kicked out of the Australian Cup, which is going to hurt us, is revolutionary.

You harping on about sacking Domey is the worst 1980s mail room boy to CEO fantasy movie ever.

And as for comrades? I don’t know how many people are in solidarity with you, but they’re all management consultants, not football geniuses and repressed classes held back by a corrupt elite.

I critiqued players in the past. I don't rate Piper, last year, oh my! Josh is one of the worst imports we ever had. Rufer is not as best this season, maybe the new kid? Kosta run his butt off last season and had no service from his mates. I always rated the two Japanese imports, they work hard and do a lot of basic stuff right. Armiento and Eze I like. Bill is overrated and Hughes we need to keep. I never criticise any of the young players as they get thrown into the backend without too much support by the senior players and they should be more protected. Anyone really thinks throwing in LBS for ten minutes in a dysfunctional team would change a game? You could see their level of skill last year when they played with this Spanish guy for a few weeks, he looked SO much better than the rest.
Let's see how the team is performing over the next few weeks and if they can show their real skills. If Greenacre unleashes them like his young guys in Wrexham games, we are in for some late-season treats and can start dreaming for a final run.
